Looking forward to going to a halloween party this weekend. The baby will be sat and we will be going out and having a good time.

We finally decided on a costume. Clock, my newly single girlfriend and I are going as the game Bang, Marry, Kill. (who would you bang? who would you marry? who would you kill?)

Single friend is going as Bang.
I'm going as Marry.
Clock is going as Kill.

True. I did 140 yard sprint repeats (it's a weird distance -- from my driveway to the corner of the street is 0.08 miles or 140.something yards) and then later hopped onto the treadmill for a jog while the kids were at swimming. The hip is much better today (some stretching, good night's sleep) but one of my feet is telling me it did not enjoy yesterday's shenanigans now.

If anyone up in Niagara County heard/felt that bang last night, it apparently was a magnitude 2.5 earthquake near Olcott.

Based on the rough area where you guys live, if I felt that at my house, I'd have to give Clock a high five.

I know a bunch of you are programmers by trade, and I had a question.

I was cleaning out some directories today, and I found a ton of little one off scripts that I've written over the years for one reason or another. It got me thinking; how do you guys organize little things like this? Do you just take the time to rename them and toss some comments in each one, or is there some other way that works for you guys?

Just curious; no pressing purpose for asking.

Whoops, grossly underestimated how much caffeine I would need. Just over an hour to go and I'm in "eyes watering" mode right now.

Cuomo's declared a State of Emergency for the entire state in anticipation of Sandy:

Quote:
BUFFALO, NY - New York governor Andrew Cuomo has issued a State of Emergency in every county in the state in preparation for Hurricane Sandy.

"We want to make sure we're ready just in case," said the governor on Friday afternoon.

Governor Cuomo also asked President Obama for a pre-landfall disaster declaration, allowing New York State access to funds and FEMA resources.

Anyone know if the storm is supposed to hit cleveland? I've heard a bunch of different stories/rumors on it It's supposed to be extremely cold here this weekend, but that's the only definite thing anyone here has heard regarding the weather.
And I just got a call back on a job I applied for, and have a Skype interview scheduled on monday

Yup. My scripts usually have more remmed out comments than they do actual code so I remember what the hell I made it for.

I have the generator, gas, batteries ready. Where we live, the power goes out if a squirrel farts anywhere near a power line. I should have bought the ******* whole house generator when I moved in...

What I have I usually parse out into a folder with it named (BSFIXForBSSoftware) and a slap a note into it that explains what it was and how to use it. I don't have many, just a few. *shrug*

If it gets to Cleveland, it'll likely just be a ton of rain, I'd imagine the winds would have died out before it got that far inland.

I'm not sure if this applies to scripts as much as it does full-fledged applications, but typically you use some sort of enterprise source control (like Subversion / SVN, CVS, TFS, blah blah blah). But yeah, comment the **** out of it. Always comment the **** out of it.

So someone who knows better than myself or the typically sensationalistic news, what's the deal. Is that actually scurry? Weather.com is saying we should be in the low / mid-40s, so that would seem to preclude an October Storm like situation. So just heavy rain?

Edit: And wtf, Rush is in town?

It's a hurricane that is expected to batter the East Coast anywhere from Virginia up through to New England, but the cone is crazy wide right now. For us in Buffalo, we're probably talking a ******** of rain if it moves in this direction, which is quite possible.
