Tor-Col

This is my first proposal on here, and though I know there may be some un happy fans from both sides I'm still gonna give it a shot.

To:

Colorado

Phaneuf
Kadri/colborne/frattin
Bozak
2014 1st

Toronto

Matt duchene
Ryan O'byrne

Colorado gets a very good #2 defenseman, a solid top 6 forward prospect, a top 6 tweener in bozak who is also underated defensively, and a 2014 1st.

Toronto gets there much needed #1 center and a solid defender with size in Obyrne to replace phaneufs size and grit.

What do you think?

I don't think Toronto's in any position to be giving up more 1st round picks.

Also, I'd be more willing to move Kessel than Phaneuf. I think Phaneuf is more important to this team.

Not awful if that picks a lottery pick.

I'd rather keep Duchene though and see if he can progress after last year.

We aren't trading the captain at the expense of getting that first line center.

I'm not sure if I would say yes to this, Duchene just has so much potential, but that 1st could be top 15, we get a good 3rd line center(if we have a season) a partner for EJ, and a good prospect. I'd probably keep Duchene and O'Byrne, but it's close.

That being said, Toronto is not going to trade their captain, decent center, a 14 1st, and a prospect for Duchene.

I would absolutely love Duchene but the Leafs really don't have the depth to make that kind of trade at the moment.

Wouldn't include our captain and best defensemen in a PACKAGE for a center of Duchene's caliber.

A pretty good offer, espically coming from a Leafs fan. I give ya props. I'd rather 2014 1st rounder, but nevertheless a very tempting offer.

The value is there from Toronto, but I think Colorado would be more interested to see what they have in Duchene.

Personally I wouldn't want Toronto to trade Phaneuf and I can't see Colorado accepting that deal.

Good offer. I wouldn't trade Duchene though.

How about something based around:

JVR + Gardiner + Frattin/Biggs for Duchene?

The Avs get a big second line winger with nice potential who'd look good on Statsny's wing, and Gardiner who could be a fantastic partner for EJ. Frattin and Biggs are both quality prospects too.

The Leafs get Duchene to play with Lupul and Kessel.

Duchene could end up being a very good C, but after having a bad season last year, his value isn't exactly at it's peak. It wouldn't necessarily make sense for Colorado to trade him right now. Now having said that, it would make some sense for them to trade off one of their C's, but Statsny has been inconsistent in his career so far as well. If you are going to pay for a #1 C, you need to get someone who has been playing like one, not a question mark. If this was 2011, and the trajectory was up, then probably the right price.. but after last year, the price has gone down.

Neither team does this trade, but it was a good attempt.

Gardiner won't be traded. JvR was just traded for, and won't be traded...

If the Leafs are going to trade for a C, one is going the other way. The OP's idea of including Bozak was worthwhile.

This proposal is a good indication of Milburyitis spreading among the NHL-lockout stricken fans...

Wait... can we add Kessel and JVR if that gets us Landeskog?? How about we add Gardiner and Rielly, and take the COL 1st 2014 pick... (it'll be lottery given the assets COL is losing...)

Maybe I'm wrong, but wasn't Duchene being used more at left wing than center?

Phaneuf-Johnson seems like a recipe for disaster defensively

He was experimented there. He belongs as a center though.

Have you watched EJ play defense before? If there's an aspect of his game to be questioned, it's his offensive potential, not his defensive abilities.

Wow, and people say the Leafs and Habs overate their players? I know this is a proposal from a Leafs fan, but I can't see many people offering up our #1/2 Dman/Captain + a good prospect + a great 3rd line center + a Top 15 pick...

That's ridiculously bad for the Leafs and I LOVE Duchene.

Lol, terrible offer. Toronto says no in a second.

The difference between Bozak and Duchene is not Phaneuf + top prospect + 1st (that could be anywhere).
