ECHL BOG preseaon meetings done: playoff change, IR change

Playoffs change: Eastern: top three spots are division winners plus next five teams. Best of 7 series. Western: top two spots are division winners plus next six teams.

Eliminate 3-day and 7-day IR, replaced by two spots on new "Reserve List". 20 players on active roster. (Retain 21-day IR -- no # of players limit.)

I'm anxious to find out how this will affect the Komets. I feel there is so much unknown about how well we can compete with established E teams. It was a jump up to another level of talent going from the IHL2 to the CHL a couple seasons ago and I believe it's the same moving from CHL to ECHL. My gut is telling me we may end up somewhere right in the middle of the conference standings, but which side of the playoff line?

I think it will be different than the CHL experience. The CHL had a lot of teams on life support supposibly. They had some really solid teams but the number of franchises in diseray(sp?)outweighed the solid operations. The callup game also was a minimal impact.

As for the changes...they finally got the Playoffs right, no more of this best of 5 garbage in round 1.
