I'm just done with it all. I'll just watch WBS this season to get my Penguins hockey fix. I'm already used to disappointment when it comes to not being able to see Crosby play. I'll make it through another year.

I don't think Fehr gives a crap if there ever is a hockey season. I don't even know if the guy is a sports fan. I do know he likes to win & he vastly under estimated Gary Bettman & the owners. Not only that but the players do care if they play hockey again. Once some of them realize the NHL isn't going to budge Fehr isn't going to be able to hold them together. He has done an excellent job as of now but if he's smart he'll see that it isn't a sustainable long term plan.
Fehr did come from dealing with Selig who folded very easily. Not to mention the large market owners & small market ones weren't together on anything. The sooner or if he ever realizes this the more willing he will be to negotiate.
Suter now suggesting the reason some of the big deals were made this summer (including his own), is because owners who ordinarily wouldn't make those kinds of deals, knew they wouldn't have to pay as much as agreed to, if the new CBA restructured salaries etc.

So espn is reporting the WC will be canceled thursday if nothing happens between now and then. WC gets cancelled we are taking a big leap towards no season at all.
Fehr is a friggin idiot. He just doesn't get that Bettman will get 50/50 right NOW or there will be no season. Too bad players your pay will ultimately go up, it always does even if you take a dip now. The offer the owners had out there looked like a pretty reasonable offer, and the league said that the make whole part was tweakable, and was the other #'s
So Fehr comes back with an offer to get to 50/50 in year 5 of the CBA? Doesn't try to negotiate ANY parameters of the offer but drums up his own. Fehr is neither representing the best interests of his clients, nor the sport. The players will never recover this money lost because of his inability to negotiate off the offer the owners put forth.

Yeah I am of the opinion that if the Winter Classic is cancelled, then the NHL has little incentive to negotiate until January and then it will be a half season starting late Jan and the league offer won't be any better than the one recently proposed. I'm really not sure what Fehr is trying to prove at this point. The NHLPA will absolutely crack before the owners do.

Oh you think? Some of these players were pretty naive when it came to these big contracts. Even before the lock out it was rumored that's what some owners were doing.
Yah I wasn't supporting Suter's comments or criticizing them; just pointing it out. I certainly have no pity for him or Parise. But i do think Liarpold is a piece of crap at this point.
Winter Classic is toast most likely (and with it the season), unless Fehr does an 11th hour thing which I'm not totally ruling out but seems unlikely.

That's what the selfish Pens fan in me is thinking. On the flip side, there should be a group of young talent ready to step in.

If they cancel by Nov.2, NHL has to pay 100k in rent money to University of Michigan (site of game), if they cancel after that date, NHL have to pay 3 mil.
