Good! Keep all the excess noise out of the conversation.

Agreed. Can't be anything but helpful. Although it will keep us in the dark a bit more afterward presumably. Unless of course they either: decide they're still so far apart they want to call it all off; find a way to reach an agreement in principle with only the details to be hashed out in the coming days. In either of those cases I expect we'll hear something from both sides afterward.

I think a deal gets done soon. Crosby and Adams heading up there last minute is a good sign.

I don't want another shorten season like 94. I hope the whole season is scrubbed because, I'm already at the point of no remorse. Let it be done and all of the lesser paid players will start cracking down on the NHLPA/top paid players and they will then be toast.

I can't feel that way. Crosby, Malkin, Letang, etc. have only so many years to play, let's not throw one away. It's another chance for another cup.

If there's a chance for a shortened season, I WANT IT.

I think the league and the players know they can't afford two completely lost seasons so close together.

I remember many players saying they were kicking themselves for not taking the deal the owners offered them in the winter of 2004-05 right before they canceled the entire season because the players thought they got a far worse deal when they finally agreed later on. I don't think they want that again but they still probably feel they have to push the NHL to the brink of canceling the season to get the best deal possible for themselves.

Right. But supposedly they are on the warpath now because of what a raw deal (which is hilarious, by the way) they got last time around, right?

Makes sense. I can see how they would completely and entirely forget absolutely everything they learned about this exact scenario in seven years. That's practically a lifetime!

I say the owners should give them an offer, then bring Ryback with them. If they don't agree, Ryback will crush them all.

Marathon session today, ending about an hour ago apparently. Hopefully a good sign. More meetings tomorrow.

December 1 is the date they're shooting for.

Basically: if they make an agreement in principle over the next several days, they would take ~ another week to formalize the legal work, then hold ~ a week-long camp, then start the season on the 1st.

BTW today's session has ended according to TSN but they haven't updated the story yet. So looks like they went till about 10:00pm again, which is good.

Houston, we have progress (i.e. real discussions and negotiations going on, and with some urgency). Keep your fingers crossed these meetings keep going into the night and that the sides don't comment. No comments is good in this case. More meetings today.

Told NHL didn't reject PA proposals. Offered detailed counter on rev sharing, make whole, etc. Both side are bargainning. Outcome unknown.

Bill Daly and Steve Fehr will talk in the morning to set a start time for tomorrow's session. The location will not be kept secret.

How could anyone know what the NHL did or did not reject if Bettman isn't talking?

It's good to see their PR hissy fits seem to be over and are working on a deal it seems.

Progress hopefully. Maybe if today's location is not kept secret that is a good sign they're close to an agreement and know they'll have to deal with the press after? Otherwise AFAIC they should all fly to bum-**** Kansas Illinois and hold their meetings at the Marriott Extended Stay and not show their faces in civilization until it's done.

Hey don't take it personally. I live in Illinois. If you prefer I can change it to "bum **** Illinois", because there are many places in this state that qualify.

It's just a saying that means "middle of nowhere / out of the spotlight / hiding in the corn".

I do not think less of Kansas folk because they live in Kansas. In fact, your BBQ is one of America's finest inventions and on my way to Utah next year I intend to boost your economy by stopping through and having some.

And hey, when it comes to the world's best internet... Kansas has it and no one else does (Google Fiber). So... I like Kansas. Hell I would even be happy to have the Panthers or Coyotes relocate to KC. I'm just willing to admit it's a state with plenty of "empty land" in the center of the country, with a small media presence. Face it; none of the media would expect to find the NHL and NHLPA in Kansas this weekend. It's the perfect hideout. I say they go for it if it means no media distractions / a better chance at a new CBA.

Bum **** Nebraska < Bum **** Illinois. Nebraska is too obvious. Unlike Kansas or Illinois you don't have any real cities unless you consider Lincoln / University of Nebraska a real city. Freakin corn huskers. Buncha no-good red shirt wearin', Larry the Cable guy watchin', Tom Osborne worshippin' LOONIES! The lot of ya! The NHL must not stain itself by going to Nebraska.

Hey come on man, Josh Archibald is playing in Nebraska! Can't we move this to like Kentucky? Or at least settle on Pennsyltucky?
