Why isn't nhl live on the nhl network Is it because of the lockout?
Not sure if that show runs during pre-season?

Very disappointing news about the next 2 meetings only having non-economic topics being discussed. Hopefully thats just cover for "were actually trying to solve this thing and move forward" but i doubt it.
I cannot believe that I suckered myself into it. With all of the momentum that appeared to be building, I felt optimistic about how things were going. So imagine my surprise when I go onto TSN tonight and see the headline "NHL talks not expected to cover economics or system issues".
This is beginning to get frustrating for me (at last)..
After reading those quotes from Fehr, I am leaning toward the season being done. I know some of that is negotiating tactics, but throwing out statements about the players not liking the salary cap does absolutely no good. That will unite and piss off the owners.

I'd rather watch the NBA than the NHL with no salary cap. The owners can wait this one out as long as they have to if that's Fehr's plan. It's pretty scary to hear whenever a player is interviewed and asked about the NFL and NBA's revenue share being close to 50/50, they'll quickly point to the MLB's system.

All I can say is this better be a negotiating tactic cause if this was the PA's plan all along to gear up the players to lose a season to fight the cap...

Even if it is a negotiating tactic, I can't imagine it's a very good one. I feel like it's just going to piss off the owners even more and they will be hell bent on getting what they want and the season is lost.
Yah removing the cap is a stupid idea, even to float as a tactic. This is the part of Fehr's process I don't like (in any sport). He's right in that other interview that players should not have to foot the bill for ill-conceived franchises (Bettman) that are failing under business terms that were set 100% by the owners last CBA, and described as "the solution". But not having a cap is just as dumb and just as divisive.

I think he's trying to sell the players rainbows and sunshine talking about how MLB is at labor peace while last summer you had the NFL & NBA lockouts. As long as he can convince players to stay united and not make them realize losing another season and battling the cap is like driving over a cliff, then who needs all the details about how successful those leagues are and how the MLB got to their labor peace after several strikes and lockouts.
I also find it funny how Fehr is saying players are getting annoyed with the salary cap when just some time ago it was "we'll play under the old CBA!!!".
PS, if the PA really decides to do this, the owners will just bring out another card up thier sleeve in guaranteed contacts. Considering concussions in the NHL, I'm sure the PA wouldn't mind that one bit...
I have a hard time believing Boyle is so in tune with what the owners are thinking and believe his comments are nothing but PR spin. The only people I've heard from that say the owners are cracking are from the PA side of things.
I do not recall who's tweet it was, maybe Bob McKenzie but someone said a player told him they believe only 8 owners were hardliners on the lockout, but a source on the NHL side told him it was opposite. Even Walsh right now is spouting off how he has "facts" on only 8-10 owners who supposedly oppose the lockout.
And for what it is worth, both Bettman & Fehr spoke to the Globe & Mail today:
With Bettman, Daly, (who have to also deal with sponsors) and Alzner having all talked about compromise today, it seems both sides know what the end is, but want the other side to bite the bullet and do it first.
BTW, very interesting ready. Of crouse neither of them will say everything they know, but Fehr seems to dodge a lot of questions.
These guys are ridiculous. They were together nearly the whole day yesterday, and yet they continue talking about healthy and safety. Pretty much dragging out stuff that should take 3 hours and not 3 days worth of negotiation (overall), to see who blinks first and brings up the economics. Dickheads.
