Morrow looked lost in the D zone most of this game. There is no way he's ready for the NHL. That third pairing is downright scary. I think they should go back to playing 7 D with Grant.

Grant isn't exactly known for his defensive zone prowess. Morrow needs the time to learn, not sure what Mormina's excuse is, though.

He's better than Morrow right now, defensively. I'm sure the orders are coming from above because WBS isn't iceing their best lineup every night right now. I know that makes Pitt fans happy but WBS fans deserve better. I'm not saying he's not talented but he certainly needs a lot of work in the defensive zone.

Yes, Grant is better than Morrow right now defensively, there are very few who would debate that. However, he's not going to learn by sticking his thumb in his ass in the pressbox, is he? Also, WBS know that they are there to develop. It was admitted as much in their version of In The Room. AHL is primarily a development league, even in a lockout.

Mormina is a veteran leader on and off the ice, and has a reputation for being a bit of an agitator who draws penalties (weird job for a 6'6 guy) and a good shot-blocker. Purely from a player development POV, Grant and/or Samuelsson should play over him. But I guess Hynes wants a poor man's Hal Gill on his D to settle things down. Maybe Mormina gets benched once Bort is back in the lineup?
I just remember he took two penalties. Care to elaborate what happened and why it was a bad call?
Yeah, definitely. First one was called a high stick.
Rochester was offsides, and Tangradi lifted the opponent's stick. The player's own stick came up and hit himself in the face. Don't think that's a penalty, if I'm not mistaken.
Second one was called a trip.
Tangradi finishes his check in the neutral zone, along the Rochester bench. The Rochester player he hit falls down. Literally one of the worst calls I've ever seen.
Then, as you can see in the highlight video Tangradi is blatantly interfered with on the final rush where Rochester ties the game up.
After the game, Tangradi said "he feels like he has a target on his back sometimes." I'm going to have to agree
