Move Hjamerson down to the 3rd pairing?

How woudl you feel about it? With Oduya as #5 and now Rosy as #6, theyre very good bottom pairing dmen but can play 2nd pairing if with a good partner. hjamerson has struggled last year and if you move him down, it brings more balance on the bottom two pairings.

keith-seabrook
leddy-rosial
hjamerson-oduya

I'd prefer the pairings and ice-time breakdown to be something like this:

Keith - Seabrook - 24:00
Hammer - Oduya - 19:00
Leddy - Roszival - 17:00

I thiught leddy is ready as a top 4? Didnt he play some games with keith last year? How did he look.

I'd much prefer Leddy on the bottom pairing, take some pressure of him.

Leddy played some games with Keith in his rookie season, as did Olsen last year. Whether people think he's ready to be a top-4 Dman or not, because of the veteran depth on the backend, he can and should be pushed down the the bottom pair while still getting good ice-time against lesser competition which should increase his effectiveness.

Hjalmarsson was our 3rd best Dman all of last year. He's not being bumped down for Johnny freaking Oduya. MAYBE Roszival, unlikely though

Considering the third pairing and second pairing should see equal minutes, sure.

Agreed. And if Oduya plays 19 minutes a game, Hawks will pay for it.

No, they won't.

If Leddy sees 2nd pairing mins with Oduya the Hawks will pay for it. If Oduya is with Hammer or Rozi they will be fine.

Who's Hjamerson? Did they just draft him?

Fine to try things but Hammer-Rozsi is the best 2nd pairing defensively by a lot.

Keith is just bad when he gets in the 27 range. With the depth this team has now 1 through 6, I want 24 tops from him

much rather see some consistency(barring injury) where hjalmarsson stays with a partner all season. Something like
keith-seabrook
leddy-hammer

I like this. I might also like to see things shaken up a bit, with something like:

Keith(23, pk/pp)-Rosi(20, pk)
Leddy(20, pp)-Seabrook (23, pk/pp)
Oduya/Brookbank(16)-Hammer(18, pk)

That looks interesting. You can actually structure the D with one of the best guys on each pairing like a lot of teams do when you have someone that can handle playing on the 1st pairing in Rosi.

If Roszival could actually handle playing on a top pairing, he wouldn't have signed in Chicago for 2M on a 1-year deal. With Q, of course, at some point you could see the pairings shake out like that.. but it won't last.

He'd be much better than Leddy and would allow Keith to open things up offensively. He's certainly not a top pairing D-man, but I like his skill set with Keith...like you said, like it or not, we'll get a chance to see it.
