In soccer I can understand why people would chant because the scoring chances are few and far between and maybe they're trying to pump up their team or their bored. In hockey after a while the chanting does interrupt the play by play a bit when I watch. I can tolerate it for a little while but then it starts getting redundant

Josh Holden?!?! Didn't he used to play for the Canucks?! ahahah.

Excited to watch some hockey at a normal hour.

Devan Dubnyk AND J Bernier? Oilers must be foaming at the mouth.

Lol, in soccer the people chant because the scoring chances are few? Even if there were few chances that is still a strange argument. It's just the way we like to watch our games. To cheer for the team. To admit your love for the club. Or do you want to tell me that this doesn't give you goosebumps?

After all you have to accept that it's a cultural difference. I'm glad I don't have to sit in a quiet NHL arena where you can hear the players shouting. Plus, Spengler Cup without the happy fans would be... not the Spengler Cup. The game is played for the fans and not the TV stations.

I totally have to agree. You'll barely get goosebumps sitting in a NHL stadium, where once a game the crowd screams "Go! [place teamname here] Go!". I'll never forget when our Stadium (Second Swiss League) was sold out against our biggest rivals some years ago and like everyone was singing all the game. When everyone stood up it felt like heaven.

Nevermind Americans, you'll never know these feelings.

Well "played" is the wrong word to be honest He mostly appeared in the AHL being with decent stats but never made the gap between AHL and NHL. He played 60 games in 6 years, half of them in the first season. He headed then to Switzerland to become a well-known player and established foreigner with 1.06 PPG. Beyond average.

Some people don't like chanting, some do. I'm just saying when I'm watching on TV and you hear the same chant over and over and over again it gets redundant, I can tolerate it for a bit but for 60 minutes of hockey it does get annoying after a while. And I get that in soccer you chant to support your club but I watch plenty of soccer and usually during a lack of good chances and players are just passing it back and forth through the midfield and back to the defenders the crowd will chant because the play is kind of lacking, so fans decide to pump it up a bit and cheer for their club. I compare it a bit to the wave in baseball.

I'm Canadian, and we won't know these feelings? Okkk...have you ever been in an NHL arena? Or to an NHL playoff game?

we don't have songs like in soccer but don't act like you feel any more passionate about your team or sport than others do. Thats obviously a road game in Buffalo, Leaf fans are as passionate as any soccer fan.

Ofcourse, I have. But that's been some years ago. However, I never said Americans aren't passionate about their team but it's not the same if everyone screams Go Leafs Go than it is when everyone sings the club hymn.

But that's a cultural difference, nevermind that. Let's focus on hockey.

No but it would help.

As for chanting, Stick to chanting go <Team> go, or the goalies name. Anything else is just annoying like soccer...

Everybody stands up, chants Go Leafs Go and after 15 seconds sits again and eat their popcorn. Well if you call that good support...americans...

He plays in Zug normally but is on loan for the tournament like Diaz (also Zug) and Kane and Berra (both EHC Biel).

These are either the worst jerseys worn by refs, or the greatest.

I have yet to decide.

Unique either way.
