Right! This has ALWAYS been my big issue with the optimism surrounding his "arrival" in Boston. He'd never say anything himself.

Now I'm thinking there's something there. A desire. And my interest is peaked.

The Bruins have been very patient with Soderberg. Can you imagine how it would have turned out if Harry Sinden was still in charge?

Let's hope Soderberg appreciates what Boston has done and remains loyal. I think he will be a nice addition in Boston.

It certainly makes sense from both a Boston and Soderberg POV, especially if he can sign a 1 way deal at cheap money with a plethora of bonus incentives. There's a need for that exact type of contract and should be plenty of opportunity to play in the top 9 with a shot at the top 6 (depending on who's on the outs of course).

Is he willing to go to the net? Set up in front at all?
Or is he strictly a perimeter type of player?

I've had conversations with our HF friends over seas that follow his league and they've said soderberg is a very good two way player and uses his size to win the puck and protect it. Not everyone has to hit like Lucic

Jonathan Drouin, who will end up top-3 at the NHL 2013 draft would be just as good as Soderberg with 20 years of NHL career to come.

Would he be available to the Bruins through a trade to upgrade your 1st round pick?

Yup. Too much sense this time around.

I can't speak as to how much success I think he'll have in the NHL... But this makes me think that we may finally get the opportunity to find out.

I think we need to set Chia up with that dude from Catfish. I can see it now:

Chia: "Nev, myself and my organization have had a long distance relationship with this player, Carl, but we've never met up in person. I read poorly quoted articles about him in Swedish newspapers that sound like they came from Yoda. Every time we are about to bring him over for camp something comes up. We even tried to skype one night, but his web cam mysteriously broke (or so he claimed). I must say Nev, I have a professional man crush on Carl and I need to know if this is real."

Nev from MTV: "Well Peter, I had a chance to check out his facebook page and I'm concerned. These pictures in his album, after running them through google image search, came back as old stock photos for Mats Sundin, as well as members of Swedish powerhouse death metal bands In Flames, At the Gates and Soilwork."

::fade out shot of Chia sobbing gently::

Yeah...Um... Why bother looking at players that are already drafted and could be had for nothing when you can trade for a lottery pick!?

Maybe it's me, but the obvious reason is that one has shown a track record of not wanting to travel over and play in North America while the other one already lives here?

Not supported by Soderberg's most recent statements. See quotes earlier in this thread.

Believe him or not, he's now on the record as wanting to play in North America.

Uh huh. And that's different from him saying he wanted to come over all those other times why? Oh yeah, those were all just his agent saying it and he never told anyone he would attend a dev camp or training camp, or if they guaranteed him a roster spot on the big club. It was all just a miscommunication on his agent's part...

Plenty of north americans will be in the draft, no? I'm just saying having talks with Söderberg has nothing to do with Jonathan fracking Druoin...

Yes, and he works hard. Also had some "fights" when he played for Malmo Redhawks. But as I said, not a very physical guy (hitting other players).

One thing you do not understand here:

Jonathan Drouin Halifax, Mooseheads 42 36 57 93

This guy leads the Q in scoring at 17 YO!

The last one to do just that was.....Crosby.

Why pursue a phantom when you could pursue the next star of the NHL?

Soderberg is freaking 28 YO and never played in NA.

Oy Vey!
I know who he is. What I do not understand is what he has to do with Söderberg.
So what do you think it would take for the bruins to get a top 5 pick?

Sure, we would all love to have Drouin but the price to get him would be crazy and unrealistic for a team in the Bruins' situation. Soderberg is realistic as the Bruins (supposedly) still own his rights without giving up any assets, quite different compared to the premium assets it would take to give up to get Drouin.
