I commend your enthusiasm but i wouldn't get your hopes up. I love our two young centers too, but lets not get too far ahead of ourselves....

Kane/Jokinen/Poni
Ladd/Little/Wheeler
Burmi/Antro/Welly
Cormier/Slater/Thorbs

- with Poni and Welly changing spots from time to time, or if one guy struggles, etc.

Mittens/Machacek

Enstrom/Buff
Hainsey/Bogo (Clitsome until Bogo is back)
Stuart/Postma

Meech/Clitsome

- with each passing week, the more I think Bogo will miss no NHL action.

Pavalec
Montoya

I created basically a full thread of reasons why with Noel's style of coaching the lineup will start off as:

1a) Andrew Ladd Bryan Little Blake Wheeler
1b) Evander Kane Olli Jokinen Kyle Wellwood
3) Alexei Ponikarovsky Alexander Burmistrov Nik Antropov
4)???? Jim Slater Chris Thorburn
Available: Antti Miettenin, Ben Maxwell, Patrice Cormier, Mark Scheifele, Spencer Machecek
*1a and 1b because their icetime will be similar

1) Tobias Enstrom Dustin Byfuglien
2) Ron Hainsey Zach Bogosian
3) Mark Stuart Paul Postma
Available: Grant Clitsome, Derek Meech, Zach Redmond

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=1241645
Please read if you want to see why.

If I had to guess, I think garret9 has it down.

Who know's how it'll end up end of season... just if everyone isn't injured that's most likely lineup.

PS: it's not my personal taste either...
If I was Noel:
  • I'd make Wellwood take the face-offs over Jokinen (he's our only non-Cormier/Slater who tends to win FO in high volumes)
  • I'd put Thorburn in the press-box unless we have a game where we need "truculence"... instead field combos of Slater/Cormier/Mach/Mittens
  • I'd put Stuart in the press-box unless we have a game where we need "truculence"... instead field a bottom pairing of Postma/Kulda/Clitsome
but that's me and not what will happen

But who will be in and out of this lineup if we have no season and start up next year. That's what interests me.

Not hate... just ability/effectiveness/results

Let's be honest, for the most part, the only thing Thorburn brings to the table that the others I listed don't is he's tougher/betterfighter.... and not by much over Machacek/Cormier
Machacek is similar but has more offensive upside than Thorburn
Cormier is similar but has better defensive skills and also brings some faceoff skills
Miettenin has no "truculance" but I think he was getting his game back in the later part of the season and his offensive upside and defensive abilities surpass Thorburn

Thorburn and Stuart are hard working, heart and soul truculence guys. Every team has them and has needs for them. BUT, for most teams unless they have solid offensive and/or defensive abilities they usually get worked in and out as the 13th forward/7th d.

Thorburn will get his fair share of games in, but he really needs to have a similar year to that of his last year in Atlanta or to what Glass did for us last year. Would go a long ways for us.
