Summer Hockey for kids

My 8 year old wants to play summer hockey. Are there leagues for his age group that play in the spring/summer in Edmonton?

Please let me know or direct me to the topic if this has been discussed before.

Thanks.

There are some 3 on 3 leagues that seem like a lot of fun for kids. Not sure what they are called though.

River Cree has had 3 on 3 spring leagues in the past but are undergoing a management change at the moment and nobody has any info as to whether they will this year.

Serdachny has a 3 on 3 camp that is probably really good. This is run by some of the best powerskating instructors around. http://www.elitepowerskating.com/hoc...?cmbCampType=7

United cycle runs a 4 on 4 during July and August in Spruce Grove that my son played in last year that was pretty good.http://www.summer4on4.com/

I know a bunch of kids who played in a 3 on 3 league at NAIT and had really good things to say about it. http://www.ooks3on3.com/sites/3333/p...ge=news_league

This one is advertised a lot but I don't really know anything about it. http://3on3superleague.ca/

If you want him to play serious 5 on 5 hockey then you are probably looking at a AAA spring team that require tryouts and significant time, travel and financial commitments.

This, however, is what you should do with him this spring. http://www.gelc.ab.ca/league.php?scr...&leagueID=5425
