Why not, before it was they offered nothing now they have 4 that the NHL can look at and either dismiss or counter.

NHL-PA meeting over. This means either league wants to study NHLPA proposals or we have a major snit.
Just popped up on twitter. Hopefully a few details start to filter out.

EDIT:

I am hearing NHLPA presented three offers to NHL.

Hopefully only 3 made it through because the NHL liked one of the 3, not they were so bad that Bettman had to walk out.

None even came close to 50/50. All variations on initial offer.

It's dead, Jim.

Bettman -- we still believe ours was a fair and balanced deal; players made 3 proposals that were all variations of their first offer
So, I guess the players don't want to play that badly (if true).

All the effort the PA have put on controlling the PR narrative is now moot. They get to wear the black hats now.

What a joke. Stupid NHL and Players. I say the Owners should just make their own league and rules and let other people join the league. If the players want to play in this new league, they must follow the owners rules. I find this to be very stupid. I'm done with this crap.

I know that. But when you are making more than the average joe makes in a lifetime playing a game, I feel they have no grounds to be asking more than what is offered already. To me, it's like Bill Gates saying "You know, I got billions upon billions of dollars, but, I want MORE".

Edit: Or the regular NHL player: "You know, this Cadillac is alright, but I want a Porsche, or, even better, a Lamborghini!". It's just one big joke. No other sport in the world has to deal with this many lockouts in so many years. It's just really sad.

You also know that the owners are all wealthy far beyond you,me and the players too right?

Your analogy of Bill Gates is more akin to the Owners then the players. The Owners are all for the most part Billionaires who the Hockey side is not even the major business operation.

Yeah, but that's not my point. My point is, if I was getting paid even 200,000 a year to play hockey, I'd do it in a heart beat. What needs to happen is start up a new league where players are getting paid no more than 500,000 a year and start a cap of 8-10M. If no player wants to play in that league, they can go suck an egg.

Don Cherry's interview in the Journal was pretty good today.

Fans are "kiddin' themselves" if they think they would act any differently than the owners or the players in this situation.

Sure and when they play it is these types of owners that are the players best friends. you know many owners don't look at it as a business decision. They want to win, this drives up wages past were they would be if hockey wasn't something the owners clearly take pleasure in. The catch is that every few years the owners are allowed to get together and say, ok, lets put this thing back in check. THat is what they are doing, and they have every right to do. THe players should realize they get more than what normal employees would get. THey get higher than their returns simply becuase owners compete with each other past were they would, since they find hockey fun.

Take the cut players. you are looking like greedy fools!!!!

I'm thinking two, but we would probably get "replacement" players if it extends past one whole season.

only one, it's what was needed last time, and it will be needed again

the owners can afford to wait for as long as they need to, the players cannot... it's pretty simple

I personally don't care any more, my energy regarding this whole thing has been sapped for a while now. If they come back, fine but if not, i'm not losing any sleep over it.
The business side of this is making it real hard to cheer for these guys anyway.
The players will just have to deal with the harsh reality of not collecting any NHL paychecks for a year, two or however long and the owners will go on with their other business ventures and continue to live extremely comfortably and wait for the inevitable players cave. Wake me up when it's over.

Donald Fehr's presser was an offensive mixture of playing the victim and insulting fans intelligence.

"We made all these concessions last time....", yeah and it created an environment where players make more than ever before, almost as much as the entire league made before the last work stoppage. You would KILL to play under the old system, the one you made "concessions" for - so knock it the **** off.

"The players would lose X amount of money" - no, they wouldn't. They would get what they lose back. Unlike your solution to the HRR split, it's not even contingent on revenue gains.

I have no idea who that is.

Nevermind a 2nd round bust that ran and took someone's job in Sweden when he wasn't good enough to make the NHL.
