I kind of like the idea Damien Cox had on Bob McCowans show. NHL needs to lay down an offer, tell them they have a few days to look it over and if necessary drop a significant counter offer. If nothing is settled by that period, schedule the next meeting for April 1st and tell the PA they can meet you then

This.

Funniest part is the players saying they were going towards 50/50 but fact is, CBA may trend towards it but never hit exactly 50-50.

As someone tweeted [Lebrun?], this doesn't bode well for the players in the end.

agreed, these deals always seem to get done at the last minute, so make a deadline, if not the owners can "reassess" in april/may

A guy like Josh Green, getting back in the NHL full time? Hard to pass up.

Would they be ecstatic if the NHL was AHL quality?

Probably, because the Owners own the NHL, not the players.

If they go about getting replacement players, then they would be NHLers, because they would be paid by and play for teams Owned by NHL owners.

I thought Oct 25 was the deadline this time around? Either or, I agree-if nothing happens by 25th, call it a year.

How do you guarantee all existing contracts and still only be at 50% of HRR? That's the catch.

Dreager just tweeted that he expects the nhl to cancel a significant chunk of games tomorrow.

does anyone else get the impression that this will turn more into Donald fehrs reputation/ego vs the owners?

just get the feeling that he is telling the players "i always win" "I will get what you guys want, dont settle for any less" without looking at teh big picture. The players got fleeced last time by holding out longer, it will happen again, they will end up with 45%HRR begging to come back. thats just the way this business works. the owners have been fair by most public opinion.

I honestly think at this point if I saw any member of the Oilers franchise with the exception of Joey Moss, I would promptly flip them the bird and call them a greedy son of a *****.

Maybe I'm off base, but when did players leave last time to Europe? Is the fact that many are employed right from day 1 causing negotiations to not be as serious as they should?

Getting the impression that players are going over seas and are thinking that the CBA will sort itself out while they are off on a paid vacation.

The lockout will end when the players agree to 50-50 with the immediate salary cuts repaid over the life of their contracts. I don't think this will happen with Donald Fehr at their helm.

It will probably take them at least 6 months of missed cheques to turn on him. I don't have a lot of hope for this season.

Oh yeah, this season is gonzo for sure. The players will lose 100% of this years salary and will accept 50% starting next year. They *will* lose, it's up to them to decide how much they lose this year.
