North Dakota is getting an at-large to the NCAA's. No decisions will be made for awhile.

And he probably still needs his senior year to grow as a player.

Not talking about Forbort and agree he needs another year at ND.

I'm curious to see how Ebert does in Ontario and if he does get a call up to Manch. See if he's able to keep up with the game or not.

Seasons not over, UND will be the #4 seed in one of the regionals for the Frozen Four tournament.

Yeah I was going by what the local sports announcers said. They were apparently wrong.

I wonder if he's had any +3 games in the last two years. He must think he's in a dream. Good for him though.

Kevin Gravel and Nic Dowd play for St. Cloud State. Their first opponent is Notre Dame on Saturday, March 30 at 1:30. They are the #4 seed of the Midwest. If there are any fans who happen to be in Toledo, Ohio that weekend, you can watch the games at the Huntington Center.
Nic Dowd (Jr) - 39 GP, 14 g, 25 a, 39 pts, 39 PIM
Kevin Gravel (Jr) - 39 GP, 1 g, 9 a, 10 pts, 25 PIM

Michael Mersch and Wisconsin's first opponent is UMass-Lowell on Friday, March 29th at 4:30. They are the #4 seed of the Northeast. I certainly know we have some Manchester fans who regularly read this site. They will be able to see the game at Verizon Wireless Arena this weekend if they are so inclined.
Michael Mersch (Jr) - 41 GP, 23 g, 13 a, 36 pts, 22 PIM

Nick Shore and Denver are the #3 seed in the Northeast bracket. Their first opponent is New Hampshire on Friday, March 29th, at 8:00. Once again, our Manchester fans have a chance to watch Nick Shore, as they also play at Verizon Wireless Arena.
Nick Shore (Jr) - 39 GP, 14 g, 19 a, 33 pts, 30 PIM

Finally, Derek Forbort and North Dakota make the #2 seed in the West bracket. Their first opponent is Niagara on Friday, March 29th, at 5:30. Anyone in the Grand Rapids area next weekend will be able to go to the Van Andel Arena to watch.
Derek Forbort (Jr) - 40 GP, 4 g, 11 a, 15 pts, 18 PIM

Just FYI, here are the brackets in case you want to follow:

TG you think Derek would be better off at UND or MAN next season?

i know he still has work and development to do, but at this point do you think he has reached max reward in the WCHA? would a move to the AHL be better for him and push him harder and faster?

i was talking about Mersch today with one of the guys I coach with. he went to high school with him and has seen a few U of W games. he thinks LA is going to love the kid and got him as a steal in the 4th round. i've only seen him play a few games so far, so i can't say much about him. sounds like he is likely a 3 or 4 line LW, most likely King's replacement in a few years. he was telling me that Mersch will fit in perfect with LA's style, that LA's style is Mersch's favorite way to play

Ebert was released by Ontario today after two games. Maybe a paper transaction so he can sign with Manchester?

Seemed like we was doing well and I was looking forward to seeing him play in Ontario this weekend.

Some quotes from (last night) Corey Pronman who is the NHL prospects writer for Hockey Prospectus and ESPN:

Quote:

Have liked #LAKings prospect Colin Miller early in this playoff series for the Soo. Mobile dman with good hockey sense.

Man Colin Miller (LAK) just laid one of the best hits I've seen all year. Hip checked Gavrus (NJD) and flung him into Kitchener.

Depends on price. They're already best team in NHL. RT @demunone: @coreypronman speaking of the Kings, why wouldnt they make a run at Iginla?

I really love those quotes about C. Miller. I think he might turn into something good. Leader too.

I just saw that they rated him as the #6 rated OHL drafted defensemen in the recent article done by HF... dont know if its by scouts or just people who view the OHL... but it looks like a sleeper 5th rounder...

That's odd. I hope he's off to Manchester too.

Soo Greyhounds game highlights can be found here:
http://www.soogreyhounds.com/video/index

Kings prospect Schumacher scored the go ahead goal, with Miller getting the secondary assist.

At the 2:00 mark in the video, you'll see Miller's huge open ice hip check.

That's disappointing.

The ECHL web site still has him on the roster though. And when you look at the team scoring, it also shows players who are no longer on the team... but he's not noted as off the team.

http://www.echl.com/stats/roster.php?team_id=49###
Here's the roster with him on it.

http://echl.com/stats/statdisplay.ph...id=-1&confId=0
Here's the scoring on Ontario, which still has him listed as a rookie and on the team still.

Sometimes they release players of their tryouts in order to sign them to a contract. I'm sure he wasn't cut due to performance.

That was a nice, solid hit. It actually looked more impressive the second time I watched it than the first. That's a classic hipcheck. Not Dariius Kasparitus good, but who is?

Released from an amateur tryout, which would be standard protocol if he were to sign a Pro contract be it in with the Reign, Monarchs, or Kings. I think you can only play a number of games (5?) on ATO any ways. If he's still on the roster then it will likely be before the next game that he signs a PTO someplace.

Mersch season is done, Wisconsin lost... does he return for his senior season? or do the Kings sign him and send him to Manchester?

The Monarchs can probably really use him and I think he's probably ready to go pro. Won't shock me if he signs in a week or so.
