Yeah, he went through a lot of crap last year with trying to void his KHL contract (that wasn't all the Kings doing) and even came over before that whole issue was sorted out. Seems like another guy like Voinov and Loki that doesn't care about money but wants to play in the NHL. I'm not worried in the least bit that he won't be in NA after his contract expires, really the only concern I have is that he gets... umm, "talked" into "signing" another contract with CSKA.

CSKA highlights (Prokhorkin):

Prokhorkin stats:
CSKA
29GP 14G 8A 22Pts +5 37PIM 19.2 SOG% 173/429 on faceoffs, 40.3 FO% 16:47 TOI/G

Also he's gotten bigger - my guess is, he's around 6.03 (at the age of 19 years old)... Could be wrong on that one tho.

22 pts out of 29 games in the KHL is remarkable for a young guy like him. That's not a high scoring league by any means.

Changes a good deal of his mathematics. It's one thing to be in the AHL trying to make a play for the NHL when you're down in the Russian minors it's very much different to be getting decent minutes on a top KHL team playing with high quality guys. I think he's been playing mostly Center these days? Thing is we have a spot likely to be open on the 3rd line with Stoll getting a bit worn down and Lewis losing what little offensive ability he had. Vey's sitting there with more experience and age but Prokhorkin maybe a better player....

Going to be interesting in the off season. Because of the Olympics, and less games, the KHL will be finished with their Finals on April 30th... The NHL isn't likely to be past the first round by then with the playoffs starting on April 16th (AHL is about the same time with the regular season ending on the 30th). Prokhorkin could turn into a "black ace" this year or make a run with Manchester.

Yeah he was, but he also wasn't a star at home either. Now he is, or may be anyways, and is at least certainly one of the rising stars in Russian hockey that's actually in Russia. You got to imagine the league wants to keep him around if he keeps this up. I mean he's scoring a goal every second game on average and is 20. I can see big money being tossed his way that wasn't there 15 months ago when he came to play in the AHL.

The big money stuff is also kind of a myth in Russia, players are starting to catch on.

It's not out of the ordinary for KHL players to pick up their own tabs(flight/lodging/meals) while on the road.

Also some have to pay for their own training. So if your making a couple Million but paying your own way....Are you really making a lot of money ?

It's the Russian superstars like Kovalquit that benefit going back to Russia.

Not to mention he's married now -- that could change everything for the worse.

And I was going to write about this game... of course, the DVR didn't record it, so now I can't watch it and write about it for my next article. I'm not too happy at the moment :/

Leslie scored again. That's five goals in less than 24 hours for the defenseman. Beautiful tic-tac-toe play.

I know you're being sarcastic, but I can see why he's on this scoring tear. He finds the seams to attack just like Doughty; showing very good offensive sense. Unlike other junior players, he doesn't try to do too much with the puck, either.

Really liking his game so far.

Edit: On another note, talk about an impressive week. In four games this week, Leslie and Auger (both Kings picks) have combined for eight goals and two assists in 13 periods. Auger had a hat trick on Tuesday, too.

Add an assist for Leslie. Took the puck in his skates as he streaked down the right wing, pivoted to back off with the puck, then made a tape-to-tape pass to his teammate, leading to the goal.

One more goal for good measure for Leslie. That's two goals, two assists for Leslie today. That's six goals, two assists in less than 24 hours for the defenseman.

Ebert (and Kerby Rychel) traded to Guelph, who already has Leslie and Auger for 5 2nd round picks, some 3rd, 4th, and 5th round picks, and a player. Wow.
