A prospect with that caliber of hands, hockey sense, and creativity is rare.

Now with 20 points more than MacKinnon in the same number of games.
He could be C. Hasn't been in Moose but he has the hockey sense to do it.

This team drafting a winger to develop him as a center. What could possibly go wrong?

He shouldn't be a C.

I'd rather they never make the playoffs again.

Exactly. Take the best player available regardless of what position he plays...

They're stupid. Its no different then comparing Russians to Russians, they are solely based on being from the same city.

I'd be very curious to see what other teams would offer for the pick, were they in line for Drouin. Especially a team that was in line for MacKinnon and may want them both.

Curious, mind you. Not looking to move it if they're in line for that type of player. Just curious.

I wonder if Jarmo would do Tyutin + their middle first for a Drouin + MacKinnon combo.

I'd rather have Drouin (or Barkov/Lindholm/Monahan). It would take a lot to move out of a top six spot IMO. The Rangers & Kings should be playoff squads and while the draft has decent depth that's quite a downgrade in order to address LD. They'd still be in position to get a pretty good player but likely not a roster contributor for two years unless it's a versatile type that can play bottom six / bottom pairing adequately. I'd rather have the close to ready-made impact type unless it's a hell of an offer.

Edit: Maybe not regarding the Rangers if Girardi/McDonagh are out long-term.

Tyutin? WTF?

Why in the **** would any GM not scream no at Columbus for such an offer?

Just looking at his GA/20 numbers and they are over .800... His best was .681 in 07-08(as far as it goes back) and then .725 in 08-09, then tons of .800+. Over Drouin?

Well he has played on a pretty darn poor team over that time so of course those numbers look bad. But you could put an in his prime Lidstrom on that team and his numbers wouldn't look great either.

So you would rather have Tyutin and some high bust possibility prospect over Drouin?

No I have already said if I were Columbus I would definitely trade Tyutin and the middle first for a top few picks selection as it favors them a decent amount IMO.

I'm just saying the stats you are using to run down Tyutin lack context...

3 NHL.com writers did Mock Draft whenever the Caps were in dead last, and all 3 had Capitals picking Seth Jones. Stupid.

Well you could easily say the Caps already have 2 bluechip forward prospects and no studs in the pipeline on the blueline.

I'm not a draft for need person myself but it is also very likely they have Jones ranked highest on their boards, which would make taking him the opposite of stupid IMO...

Taking Jones stupid or Caps having #1 pick stupid?

Neither are stupid.

There is nothing stupid about taking Seth Jones first overall.
