Those mocks all need more Wennberg.

It's also odd how low Monahan and Lindholm are on all 3.

Good stuff from McKeen's in their latest top 30.

Hagg seems a bit high and I'm a bit more bullish on Wennberg & Horvat. Anyway, at this point I'd be pretty surprised if they don't at least end up with a top 10 pick.

Weird that they don't list any goaltending stats for the goalies.

Still love Lazar.

Hoping he either falls to the Caps' second rounder, or they pick up a mid-to-late first at the deadline and nab him.

Assuming, due to the division, the Caps climb to the 6-10 range. A combo of someone like Monahan with Lazar would be a massive boost down the middle for the organization.

I don't see him dropping to 2nd round. I think he's gone by 20 but you never know. I'd love to have him but not where Caps seem to be picking.

Aside from Seth Jones, does this draft have any other notable Dmen?

Rasmus Ristolainen.

McKenzies list has him at 7 with one of the 10 scouts being Button, who has 20 on his list.

Also Nurse, Zadorov & Pulock. Beyond the top six & Nichushkin I like Shinkaruk over the secondary group of D but they may be worth considering compared to Erne or Mantha potentially at, say, nine. Add in centers Wennberg, Gauthier & Horvat and that's who I'd most have on the radar as top 14 candidates.

I don't think the SE division hurts them much. The remainder of the schedule is more division-heavy but given their road record three in Winnipeg and two in Raleigh won't be easy. A 4-0 month inside the division was solid but something they're unlikely to repeat.

Whether they move Ribeiro is a pretty big factor in how they do the last month of the season, particularly given that the schedule then becomes more advantageous. Injuries and who decides to cut the cord and sell in the West makes it hard to handicap but IMO this is about a 40 point team (maybe a little more should Laich & Johansson return and actually produce). According to SportsClubStats (FWIW) they'd need 46 or 47 points to move out of the bottom six. Even that will require fringe playoff pace the rest of the way and, again, given their road record to this point it's hard to imagine.

Lazar & Hartman seem too safe not to go in the first round unless there are upside concerns. Petan, Klimchuk, Dickinson, Compher, Hurley, McCoshen, Bowey, Vannelli & Santini are all interesting potential early second rounders.

Oh yeah and the fun part is Pulock, Jones, and Ristolainen are all right handed...

One of the cool things you see from Pulock is entering the zone and being able to thread a pass to a player breaking behind the defense. His hands are very good, his backhand saucer pass would be a great asset if he plays LD.

It's not like 52 can really be relied upon so there's pretty much a need filled with any of them.

That defenseman in the Drouin video is still better than Jeff Schultz.

How do you guys rank Seth Jones vs Ryan Murray (2nd OA) last year?

If we finish last and get 1st OA, wouldn't it be enticing if CBJ (assuming they finish 2nd last) would be heavily interested in getting both Drouin and McKinnon, for us to trade the 1st OA + Tom Wilson for Ryan Murray and Ryan Johansen?

Caps get a future captain/two way leftside D-man and a center with size and a high upside.

I would much rather keep the pick than do that trade. Trading down from one of the very top spots is appealing to me, depending on what value they could get, but I don't think they should be looking to add real pieces like Wilson to it. Whatever will get them to Barkov though.

This team needs more Russians.

I would go with Zadorov. This team lacks a huge d-man not named Jeff Schultz.

I don't think you take a one-way defenseman with a top-10 pick. I bet Zadarov falls as Maatta did last year.

Yeah, not with top-10, sure. Around 15 yeah. Our own Big Z.

Just tweeted it, will post here, too.
I think somebody should take a gamble with Swedish center Gustav Rydahl (Frolunda). He is overage by just 5 days. His 40 hits in 29 games are most per game among junior-eligible (under 20) players. 6'3", 200 lbs. 2 points this season in the big league. Also 12 in 15 games in J20.

When you say "gamble," what round do you think someone should go for him?

I'd guess anywhere from Round 5 on. As far as late round re-entry players I always liked Naumenkov's game in international play.

Late fourth and later.

(Edited original Rydahl post, some brain failure writing that).

I still think Slepyshev, who was passed over last year, in the last round is a good pick! Sure, he may not come over in a couple of years, but he has skill, size and doesn't shy away from the physical play, could pay off in the future!
