Sanchez is good and that's a fair offer.

But with so many teams needing pitching, someone will give in to those demands and it won't be Detroit.

The Tigers MLB.com beat writer says the Sanchez offer is inaccurate: https://twitter.com/beckjason/status/275642419821805568

Love the winter meetings. So much stuff happening:

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Tigers have offered Scott Hairston a two-year contract.

Grady Sizemore's agent, Joe Urbon, confirmed that his client had microfracture surgery on his right knee in September. (I would imagine he's done).

Joe McDonald of ESPN Boston reports that the Red Sox met with the Mets to discuss a possible trade for R.A. Dickey. McDonald hears that the Mets asked for prospects Xander Bogaerts and Jackie Bradley, Jr.

ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports that the Joe Blanton is a "prime target" for the Twins.

According to Jayson Stark of ESPN, the Orioles are in "hard" on free agent first baseman Adam LaRoche.

The Mariners have "checked in" on outfielder Ryan Ludwick, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

A Padres official told Joel Sherman of the New York Post on Monday that Chase Headley will not be traded.

WEEI's Rob Bradford reports that there has been "solid interest" in free agent outfielder Jason Bay.

Shane Victorino is looking for a three-year free agent contract worth about $10 million per season.

The Hairston rumor was already denied on mlbtraderumors

Soria signed with Texas. That was someone I was interested in taking a chance on despite his career might be done.

Adam Rubin said the Cards are interested in Scott Hariston.

Depending on price I'd love that move. We need a decent bench bat badly and he could spell Beltran in RF when his knees, back, whatever inevitably act up.

I'm sure that went well. Two top prospects one of them being Bogaerts. Atleast they are aiming high.

Atleast we'll be doing this tanking thing right.

Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi
Sources: Mariners and Royals have had recent talks on Billy Butler.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal
Source: #Phillies have talked to #Rockies about Fowler. Rockies would want pitching back, for now and future.

The Rangers are discussing a trade for Rays righty James Shields, according to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal.

Meh, it's small money and if he can play good D and get on base at a decent clip, it's not bad.

I do wonder if this alters potential trade talks with the Royals though. If the Royals were dangling one of Butler/Hosmer for Shields, and the Rays wanted Myers(prospect + unproven yes, but more team control), this may help them somewhat.

Who knows.

Marlins are shopping Escobar, A's are interested. That was fast:

http://joefrisaro.mlblogs.com/2012/1...pping-escobar/

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal
Sources: #Rays pursuing #Marlins’ Escobar to be everyday shortstop. #Athletics also could be in play.

According to TR Sullivan of MLB.com, the Phillies have "some interest" in Michael Young. The Phils would use Young at third base.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the Mets are interested in free agent outfielder Ryan Ludwick.

So apparently both Stanton and Nolasco want out and they're shopping Escobar. Nice.

What's it, $41M in salary for both of those guys?

Phillies might have the most overpaid corners in all of baseball.

Marlins might also field an AAA team next season.

That's what they get for not fully appreciating LoMo.

Jim Duquette ‏@Jim_Duquette
Source - #Blue Jays are 1 of the serious suitors for RA Dickey - would include a package with a catcher (Arencibia) plus others.

Jays rumors are never true.

Jim Duquette's 'source' was speculating...

Want nothing to do with Dickey. He's a 38 yr old coming off a career year... I'd be somewhat inclined to take a chance on him via free agency, but I'm not at all inclined to trade a pretty valuable asset (espcially considering the C market) for him.

Considering what the Mets have asked for from the Red Sox, they want an extreme overpayment and that isn't AA's style.

At this point, it sounds like Grady Sizemore will have to retire. I hope not though. He was great to watch.

Dodgers better get Dickey. Doesn't really hurt the Garza market at the deadline. Or at least the desirable one.

Yup. .290/.375/.533 as a 23 year old with excellent defense in CF. Don't think we saw anything close to his peak season and it's a real shame.

The Diamondbacks are said to be one of the most aggressive teams at the Winter Meetings so far, tweets ESPN.com's Buster Olney, who says rival teams believe Arizona will move Upton.

Preparing to burn this mother down. I really don't see any realistic scenario where trading Upton actually makes the team better long or short term.

I know I'd love to have Bauer on the Cubs. He's apparently on the outs with Towers.
