Yet another game I'll have to miss...I wish I could watch games on archive to see how the Amerks are doing with my own eyes.

WBS is not an 0-4 team. This will be a tough game to win.

Won't be watching this one. Instead going to the Griffins game for $1 beer/hot dog night.

Mancari and Biega with the helpers on that one.

And, BTW....LUKE USED THE FORCE!

(Sorry, but it's such an obvious line... )

Kuhnhackl is the other WBS scratch, so Uher in, otherwise both projected lineups were correct.

1st period notes:
  • GOAL! 1-0 Amerks! Adam powers past Morrow, around the net and scores on the wrap-around; assists to Mancari and Biega.
  • Varone takes a high stick from Tangradi; uneventful PP expires.
  • Foligno with the one-timer from the slot, but Thiessen saves.
  • Tangradi takes a tripping penalty; some movement, Hodgson's shot saved, as is Rankin's rebound attempt; Hodgson then called for tripping, making it 4-on-4.
  • GOAL! 1-1. A Thompson PPG with assists to Dupuis and Morrow; Thompson attempted a cross-crease pass from the end line that redirected back to him off Leggio and scores near side.
  • Porter takes an interference penalty; Tarnasky rips a SH slapper, saved by Thiessen's mask, then hustles back to deflect a pass out of play as WBS countered 3-on-2; penalty expires.
  • Girgensons with a stiff check; (same shift) strips a WBS player, but Porter handcuffed slightly by his pass.
  • Varone weaves his way to the slot, but his wrister is deflected/saved out of play.
  • Leggio saves Ferriero's wrister on a 2-on-1; (same shift) Bennett slashes Foligno shortly thereafter.
  • END OF PERIOD 1. 1-1, WBS leads in shots 12-8; 1:12 remaining in Amerks PP.

Midway through the 2nd, it's still tied...though now at 2.

Peters notches his first for the Pens, with Holzapfel and Mormina getting the assists.

Then Rankin gets his 2nd of the year; Biega and Girgs with the helpers.

2nd period notes:
  • Shots from McNabb and Hodgson saved by Thiessen; PP expires.
  • Brennan's pass intended for McNabb is intercepted by Ferriero, but Leggio stands tall and the defense clears.
  • GOAL! 2-1 Penguins. Peters wins the O-zone draw, a D-to-D pass follows, then Mormina's wrister from the point deflects off an Amerk into the slot, where Peters has the time to outwait and deke a prone Leggio.
  • GOAL! 2-2! Rankin tips Biega's wrister from the right point, second assist to Girgensons; Porter's initial attempt saved, but Girgensons collected the rebound along right boards and swung a pass to the point, where Biega lets go the wrister that's deflected in by Rankin.
  • Gibbons takes a holding penalty; some movement from the Mancari unit, shots wide or blocked though; PP expires.
  • A Thompson breakaway attempt is saved by Leggio.
  • Porter takes a slashing penalty; quick kill, penalty expires.
  • Girgensons finishing his check again in the neutral zone.
  • Adam hooks Holzapfel, WBS to the PP; penalty killed.
  • Thompson takes a roughing penalty, Amerks to the PP; Hodgson backs into Thiessen, called for goalie interference.
  • END OF PERIOD 2. 2-2, RCH leads in shots 19-16; 1:14 of 4-on-4 to start the third.

Sounds like Girgs is having a nice night. What with the passing and the checking.

*queue 40 tired, unhelpful and uninteresting posts about how he should be in the WHL

Big juicy rebound by Leggio and it's 3-2.

Make it 4-2 Baby Pens.

Gibbons with his 1st of the year.

If there was ever a time to give Leggio a rest...now is it.

Let's see what Knapp has.

3rd period notes:
  • Looks like Hodgson hits the post 4-on-4; penalties expire.
  • Mancari sets up Tarnasky in front, but Thiessen saves the point-blank one-timer.
  • GOAL! 3-2 Penguins. Tangradi pots the big rebound of the Thompson shot.
  • Biega on the rush, saved near post by Thiessen.
  • ****! Varone's found at the far post, but misses wide.
  • Girgensons-Porter-Flynn at it again with a great shift, lengthy possession, a few half-chances; Girgensons ultimately draws a slashing penalty, hacked down from behind by Despres... but wait, a big **** you from the refs, as ZG gets a matching minor for diving?! WOW!
  • GOAL! 4-2 Penguins, as Gibbons slides one past Leggio coming out of the right corner; MacKenzie was trailing, as he was caught a step or two too high in the circle.
  • GOAL! 4-3! With goalie pulled, Porter pots a rebound of a Brennan bomb off the end boards; second assist to McNabb; 1:08 to play.
  • GOAL! 4-4! With goalie pulled again, Mancari weaves his way past sliding WBS player and rips a wrister top-shelf; assists to Porter and Brennan; 0:35 to play.
  • END OF PERIOD 3. 4-4, RCH leads in shots 33-25; OT upcoming.

Who put the Tabasco in the Amerks' grits?

And how did the Baby Pens come from 2 up to tank away a lead?

Adam gets off a shot that confuses the WBS goalie...and the Amerks continue to apply pressure...

GOAL Pens. Game over.

Thompson gets the GWG and his second goal of the night with just 14 seconds left as he swoops in on a breakaway.

OT notes:
  • WBS with the early pressure.
  • Adam with a chance as puck falls to him, spotty camera work so no idea on how save looked, sounded awkward.
  • Brennan with a big hit in the neutral zone, Leggio follows with a save.
  • GOAL! 5-4 Penguins. Thompson slides a breakaway five-hole with :14 left in OT.

Ah man, you decided to only post in here? - could have used you in BR shoutbox - I was lonely - LOL!!

Sucks they lost in OT - but its good that they came back and tied it in the final minute - from two goals even - and got a point. Better than pulling a Sabres and lose a lead in the final minute then lose the game either in OT or Shootout. This point earned could mean something at the end of the season - like home ice advantage in the first round or not. Now go and get the two points in Glens Falls and make this a positive weekend!
