First, how good does it feel to see the Skins beat the Crackboys on Thanksgiving day? Felt damn good to me.
With that out of the way I do like how the measuring stick game went, to a point. Griffin and the offense really give me hope. They looked good and that last drive for a needed FG was a very encouraging thing to see. Also, DeMarcus Ware's name was only called once that I can remember when he planted Griffin on that completion to Morgan. But Ware came from Polumbus side of the line so Trent Williams with another solid game. Finally, Morris is showing to be the real deal. Solid runner.
Then there is the Defense. Same old ****, different day. They played well in the 1st half, but then give up an 81 TD catch to Bryant and out comes the soft zone that allows Romo and friends to get back in the game. The game tonight shouldn't have been close, but the defense is what it is. A bunch of frustrating tools.
The Skins are very much in the playoff hunt at this point, and that is better than the alternative, but the defense is nothing close to playoff quality so it really doesn't matter. As I said before, great opportunity for the young guys to get much needed experience, and if the Skins push for the playoffs so much the better.
RG3 could sell play action with a 25 KG turkey instead of a football.
That is a huge asset for a QB to have. Its not just the D thinking Morris is going to run it, its that RG3 slows down the fake, and sucks the DBs and LB's in that extra half second, and quickly back pedals ready to heave a 60 yarder without effort.
Watching that Aldrick TD, you can see it easily.
That skill alone of his, makes him an upgrade from all the other losers before him.
It was nice to also see he had posted a perfect passer rating well into the 3rd quarter. Basically a PPR spanning 6 quarters against respectable Ds
Great win....RG3...what can you say? Kid is a rookie....simply amazing.

Thing about the defense is that the pass rush is scary bad. These guys, especially the interior of the front 7, just cannot beat their guy one on one. Even when they know the other team has to pass, not even close most of the time. Very vanilla pass rushing, no stunts; even last season with our high sack count we were woefully inadequate rushing the passer on 3rd downs.

Losing Orakpo and Carriker really hurts the pass rush obviously. Not terribly worried about that, long term.

They have stunted more often the past two weeks. It's helped a bit but they're not really explosive enough regardless. Jenkins has started to play a little better, though.
Both PHI/DAL offenses didn't really have their act together and that always helps. Yeah, DAL put up 31 but they wasted huge amounts of time earlier on. Great to see RGIII working down the field more often the past two weeks.
I DVR'ed A Football Life: John Riggins and just watched it. By far the most informative program I have ever seen on a Skins player before. Enjoyed it a lot and highly recommend it.
