I think you're on to something here! Perhaps other players should host charity games throughout Canada and the US, and "invite" other NHL'ers to play with/against them.

The players get to play hockey and score some positive PR points; fans get a chance to see some of their favourite players take to the ice in what may be a long lockout; all proceeds go to charity; and as for GB and the owners... Well, I would love to be a fly on their walls.

It's a win-win-win-errrrr lose situation. ; )

Quote:
“I haven't heard any real good reasons why,” Bieksa said. “I don't see why guys are selling tickets for three, four, five times as much when it's priced low to give fans a cheap opportunity to see players play during the lockout ... and then they're going to try to make money off it. It's not the way I was raised but those guys are the ones who have to live with it.”

Daniel Sedin called it “embarrassing” when informed by reporters of the situation.

“It's embarrassing, to be honest with you,” he said. “If that's the case, they should be embarrassed.”

To be fair though it was totally expected. Ticketmaster? 20 bucks to watch maybe the only time Canucks players will take the ice for 2012-13? Its just asking for this kind of stuff. There are people who make a living mooching off events through Ticketmaster because its so easy to scalp there. I mean, they don't even have to make the effort to go through a box office anymore.

Any idea when Bieksa will announce who the other participants are? Wish I could watch this.

I can't believe one of the guys tried to justify his actions by saying he'll donate SOME of the money and only make a LITTLE profit. I could have been going to this game, if not for scaplers like him buying up all the tickets...

Yeah, reading that just made me shake my head. Between these guys and people vandalizing Rypien's wall...not exactly a feel good day for people in general.

Got into the bus back home today, almost empty. But there was this lady sitting near the driver who began chatting about the game and the ticket scalping. Almost felt like a video game when a "big" event in your area happens and suddenly everywhere you go people start talking about it. Will I be given a mission to deliver karma to the scalpers?

Should I study for a midterm the next day, or go to this game...?

I was faced with the same problem. I chose midterm. I live about an hour away too which made the choice easier.

I'm just buying the ticket for now, and if I don't go, then it's going to charity.

Leafs goalie James Reimer skating with Canucks. Perhaps a Bieksa Buddy for charity game.
Looks like UBC is going to win the game.

So that's Jeremy Reimer, Willie Mitchell and Rod Pelley who've been skating with the team in town as a few possible "Bieksa Buddies". Wonder who else will be there? The Province was speculating that Michael Buble may play as well.

Wednesday's charity game w/ Bieksa & friends will be three 20-minute periods (stop time). Final shootout will be 10 players from each team.

Canucks on ice today at UBC: twins, Bieksa, Hamhuis, Malhotra, Schneider. Also James Reimer, TannerGlass, Jim Vandermeer, RodPelley. #tenmen

We know Reimer's not playing, but Glass and Vandermeer are new additions to the skating crew. Pelley is a good friend of Kesler's (best man at his wedding), so he could be dressing.

Haha I wonder how much of that (if any) is true. Priestley and Buble suiting up wouldn't be unheard of, but Bure and Messier? I'd probably have an easier time believing Harry Potter was going to play.
