Attention all: you can now set your Draft priority. So for all those teams that don't have anything to do at the moment, you may want to get on that at your earliest convenience, lest it be forgotten aboot.
Sent messages to columbus, Washington and Ottawa regarding activity. In the case of the Senators and the Capitals, it I don't get a response by tomorrow night they will be available for replacements.
Hey sorry guys, I had a busy night of hockey, physical therapy, and homework. I will be on tomorrow!
For future reference, if you see my gt playing Halo, its my brother. He's rather obsessed. Sorry you guys have to deal with that..
vs has been a real tough series so far between probably the two most prestigious teams in NHL History. Both Carey Price and Martin Brodeur have been playing very well for the long time rivals. Montreal currently leads the series 2-1 off of the stellar play of goalie Carey Price.
Game 1: MON 2-1
Montreal dominated play early, firing quality chances on Brodeur early and often. For the first period Brodeur stood strong. Toronto started to get into a groove in the second only to see Montreal score a PP goal off of a Clarke MacArthur interference penalty. Toronto would soon score on a PP of their own with Captain Dion Phaneuf getting a lucky bounce near Price and beating to the post. Toronto had another chance in the third with the PP but the team wasnt working hard enough and saw former Leaf Tomas Kaberle score a short handed goal that would stand as the GWG.
Game 2: MON 4-1
Again Montreal got off to a fast and furious start with Patches scoring on a 2-on-1 only 3 minutes into the game. Toronto would soon tie the game off a deflection by Phil Kessel on Torontos PP. Both goalies held strong until an unfortunate bounce gave Scott Gomez an easy goal on a floundering Brodeur. After that the wheels fell off and Montreal dominated the rest of the game scoring 2 more times.
Game 3: TOR 2-0
This time is was Toronto with the quick start getting tons of shots off but only from low scoring areas. Eventually breaking the dominant Price with a redirection off of Clarke MacArthurs leg from a James Van Riemsdyk slap shot. The goal would go to video review thinking it may have been intentionally kicked into the net, but was eventually held up giving Toronto its first lead of the series. Both goalies played phenomenal in the second period shutting the door on every glorious chance for both teams. In the third Montreal was definitely getting its chances but Brodeur was there to stop every shot. Late in the period MacArthur got his second of the game off of a wrister during a 2-on-1. Brodeur would go the rest of the way to post Toronto's first Playoff win in over 8 years.
Games 4, 5, 6 (if nec.), and 7 (if nec.) will be played in the next day or two with what looks like a classic goalie duel being the theme of every game. I look forward to the finale of the series with a solid adversary. Good luck Marchand01.
I do have to say that allowing teams to join after the playoffs have started is pretty lame. There should be a cutoff date (perhaps the trade deadline). We put in way too much time to make the playoffs to just have some random dude takeover a playoff team.
The computer AI is difficult enough that it's fair to the other playoff teams. Hell, I went 7 games against the computer.
Well dispite attempts to contact Ottawa and Washington I have not got a response on hfboards or xbox live.. I feel its in the best interest of the league to replace these teams general managers. If the teams have not been filled within 24 hours I will allow the general managers that oppose these franchises in their playoff series to play the CPU. I regret having to remove the teams but it should make the remainder of the playoffs a more enjoyable time for the rest of the teams involved. There remains a great foundation of GM's in this league and I feel as we find quality replacements for the mostly inactive teams this league will flourish. I will be doing a activity check before the offseason to weed out any other general managers who may have lost interest in the game/league and assure no franchises suffer any unrealistic losses due to a general manager who's on a permanent vacation.
The Nashville Predators have eliminated the Phoenix Coyotes and advanced to the second round of the playoffs. If anybody knows of a suitable replacement for Detroit, Ottawa or Washington please refer them to the league!
24 hours to claim the Detroit Red Wings, Ottawa Senators or Washington Capitals. Buffalo Sabres out of the playoffs available for next season get a fresh start in the offseason!
Thanks to all the new General Managers for joining! Very competitive league that hopefully just got even better. Please be sure to go over the league rules in the original post and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Hey guys, unfortunately, ill be out of town until Saturday, and I assume you'll be wanting to be done with the 1st round of the playoffs by then. So I guess ill just essentially concede to Dallas and turn on the play vs computer. Because I assume that's the only way ill be able to stay in the league?
Anyways, cheers. Ill be back on Saturday. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates it.
