Here's another case for the Cards being the better team:

Their 1-6 Hitters all had 340+ OBP for the past season. Lowest of the bunch? Beltran at .346. Freese, Holliday, Jay and Molina are above .370.

Interesting question for the Giants: They are in Cincy now. Nats/Cards are going to Game 5 tomorrow. If Nats win, Game 1 is in DC Sunday. If Cards win, Game 1 is in SF Sunday. Should the Giants just stay in Cincy or fly back to SF now?

I think my vote is to stay in Cincy. No sense in flying back to SF and then having to fly to DC.

The only right answer here is to stay in Youngstown, OH

It also wasn't looking good for them for 8 innings yesterday. Still early.

Over. They're not getting 3 or 4 runs off Verlander.

Not with the strike zone this ump is giving him.

Drew choked the game for the A's. It's over.

All the series go to 5. Hope Baltimore doesn't suffer the A's fate tomorrow. Sabathia can dominate like Verlander if he's on top of his game.

I am so ticked that Niners-Jags is in England next year.

I am 3 hours away from Jacksonville. I wanted to attend both games in Tampa and Jacksonville. Now I can't.

Stupid England game. Stop teasing them and give us OUR games. You don't see EPL games being played in the USA, so why send NFL games there?

Well they haven't had any actual league games played in the USA yet, but EPL teams have been coming to the USA and playing exhibition games for a few years now.

Well, looks like my brief interest in baseball is over now. Poor A's. Are they going to suck next year, or manage to be good again?

So you just totally piss off on the Giants and their history making series win?

Doesn't your location say "Bay Area"?

You're a horrible bandwagoner!

edit. when we make the World Series you're forbidden to jump on. pfffffffffft.

Yeah but that's akin to when the NFL would play preseason games over there.

Now the NFL has real games being played there. No real EPL games here. I think they need to reciprocate. Surely you play EPL in MetLife Stadium or the Rose Bowl and it sells out in a heartbeat.

This Bleacher Report article has swayed me. I would rather see the Nats over the Cards now.

LOL Bleacher Report...

SFS-

Yanks winning over Baltimore isn't terrible, they are a heavily flawed team. No DH would really kill the Yanks defensively, because they'd be forced to use Jeter at SS in every NL game. Combine that with the heavily flawed team in the Tigers and it's actually breaking out well on paper for the Giants, whatever that's worth. Obviously anything can happen and Verlander and Sabathia would be rough, but both will only make 2 starts in 7 game series unless they pitch on 3 days rest which is never favorable.

Like I said earlier the Cards are the most complete team left, with the best offense by a mile. That said, I'd rather face them because they are not a team I hate. Have to beat the best to be the best anyway. Too bad the most talented team in the AL decided to check out with 3 days left to the season, lol.

Not that I'm rooting for them necessarily, I'd also really like to go to Yankee Stadium for a WS... or any meaningful game for that matter. Timing would work out great for me in terms of travel in that regard. Thank you Melky and the NL for home field.

Don't have quite as much time, but simply put:

Sports journalism and journalism in general is based on a certain code of ethics and rules. Claims have to be made with substance and trusted reporters who uphold said ethics and rules and stay as impartial as possible.

Bleacher report is by and large just a large blogosphere where they let anyone write. They've had countless baseless articles that get laughed at by the sporting community. Maybe the Turner purchase of it will give it some credibility over time? But it's more likely that it's reputation is tarnished beyond repair.

Issue of access is also a concern for most of bleacher reports writers, as in they don't have many, if at all to anyone that matters. While occasionally they may have an article that is based on fact, critical thinking, and substance chances are most are just pure speculation/rumor mongering made up by writers who are on the level of Eklund and Incacerated Bob.

Point taken. I'm not all into journalism as you apparently are. Still doesn't mean quality content can't come from there. Because I have read it from there. No need to come off all sports writer snobby-ish. Very unsexy.

Well, as I've said, there can be quality analysis anywhere and maybe they are salvageable over time.

Quality control was (is?) an issue for them.

So long as you have the filter to smell out the bull, it's not as easy as it seems especially on their speculative parts then I'm sure it'll be fine. Just understand that most of their writers, if not all, don't actually have access to teams, executives and players. Only reason they get pushed by Turner is because they were bought by Turner.

I don't think it's particularly snob-ish to expect more from a profitable company. You don't see HF, Rivals, etc... and to an extent Scout (now owned by Fox) write articles in the fashion Bleacher Report does. All are very similar in structure. Higher community standards only breed higher quality content.

My 2c.

It was said on radio yesterday that they are staying in Cincy last night and tonight. So now they are stuck until the conclusion of tonight's game.

(That's Still Crazy! Not knowing if you are going to DC or SF!)

It's a good problem to have!

Woke up this morning still giddy from yesterday. Can't believe we're going to the NLCS for the second time in three years, would've never predicted that after the tragedy that was '02 and all of the subsequent sucking.

I watched a few games there when I went to NY earlier in the year. Very cool little Bay Area Bar right in the City.

And it looks like both the Niners/NLCS game 1 will be on around 1ish on Sunday. Ugh.
