Anybody think the Wild could be interested in this guy? Sounds like maybe a 2nd/3rd rounder by the description, I haven't seen him mentioned much so I am just guessing. Pick up another guy in the Nanne line.
He'll probably be a late rounder actually but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Wild take a flier on him. He's more skilled than Louie with a similar work ethic.

Yeah he's slipped quite a bit, I could see him going in the 2nd but I think it would be early to mid 2nd and I'm hoping the Wild aren't in that position.

Fasching reminds me alot of Charlie Coyle in his draft year, except I don't think HF is as driven a player Coyle is.

Dan, were you surprised Guertler and Lettieri weren't on that list? Cammarata's omission I suppose I understand due to the size and concerns regarding his style of play, but the other two being omitted kind of surprised me.

116 European skaters and Oskar Norlöv isn't even listed? He's going to be a steal in a late round.

Dan will probably have a better answer to this than me, but I was more surprised Cammarata was left off and would be shocked if he wasn't drafted. Certain lists (like this one) have left him off because of his size issues but others have him in second or third round range. Craig Button rated him #61 which was higher than Fasching and was on a list that included Europeans and goalies.

I think Guertler and Lettieri will probably be drafted but not until the 6th or 7th round, so while I do think they should be on the list, it's not quite as surprising that they were left off.

I doubt he drops down to 60.

I was wondering what the hell you are talking about. HockeyFuture isn't a player. HF=Hudson Fasching

Lettieri yes, Guertler no.

I haven't seen Guertler live this year, but I'll eat my hat if Lettieri doesn't get picked. He was brilliant with the USNTDP here in MN one weekend, and has been great with Lincoln ever since. AND he's a great character kid, so he will get picked.

Cammarata isn't a legit NHL prospect imo- he's producing yes, but he's no Rocco Grimaldi or Johnny Gaudreau. Lacks a dynamic quality to his game.

HF has an article on USNTDP prospects for this draft.

They talk about Steve Santini D(BC recruit), Keaton Thompson D(UND), JT Compher F (U of Michigan), Will Butcher D(Den), and the one and only:

Quote:
Hudson Fasching, F

A standout at Apple Valley High School in Minnesota, the alma mater of current NHL players Mike Lundin and Dan Sexton, Hudson Fasching was the subject of a Scott Burnside ESPN profile in 2011 when it was discovered that the 6’3”, 215-pound forward has two younger siblings that suffer from a mitochondrial disorder that prevents them from walking and talking.

Being raised in such an environment has fostered strong character for Fasching, making him young in age only.

The University of Minnesota recruit had a strong first season in juniors last season, tallying 21 points in 37 games, but needs to show more improvement in the second half of the season to entice scouts around the league.

“Powerful skater, eats up ice quickly,” says one scout. “Outstanding presence down low and does a good job clearing a workspace in front of the net. Lacks consistency and has not shown much improvement/development from last season.”

I will be very surprised if Lettieri is drafted by any team other than the Wild.

I really think Curtis Lazar is a perfect pick for us. He plays the gritty, energy game that the Wild are shifting to but also has a great shot to compliment guys like Granlund. We are missing a scorer in our prospect pool.

He should also be available when we pick.

Why are his numbers down this year? I haven't seen him play but I've heard he hasn't produced as much as what was expected of him this year, and that's why he's slipped a bit.

From what I've seen, problem is he may not be a top line player. Projected to be a 2nd/3rd liner.

But his style seems to fit the Wild system perfectly.

Gritty, energetic, great on the forecheck, strong, great shot.

And although he might not be a top line player on every team, on the Wild next to Granlund, he can probably produce like one because he has a very good release.

How is his hockey IQ though? To me, he sounds a bit like Brett Bulmer or Raphaël Bussieres.

Anybody have any looks at Luke Johnson? HF just did a feature on him.

He's a Sioux recruit so obviously I'm a bit interested. Seems to be a two-way guy that will go in the 2nd/3rd round by the ISS ranking. 76th, by the way.

Any thoughts?

He was also named as one of four A-list USHL prospects by NHL Central Scouting. Could be a player.

His words on his playing style:
Quote:
I would describe myself as a hard-working center. I pride myself in being hard to play against and that two-way centerman. I can chip in offensively and be a good defensive player, too.

Why's that?

They've developed a bunch of good prospects over the years and there is no reason to believe that they would mess Johnson up. Grimaldi, Nelson, and Kristo look to be developing into high level forwards. And those are just from the last few years.

Unless you're being sarcastic and I missed it.

Of course I'm being sarcastic. I just can't recognize UND as being good at anything.

His words on his playing style:
Great offensive tools, elite release on his shot. His focus is an issue, as he'll sleep his way through games, but when he's engaged he can be a game changer.

Lackluster year so far, disappointing because he should be taking a step forward- shows he can't handle being the center of attention and his big year last year may be a product of playing with Kevin Roy.
