Wow, the NHL actually went up to 7 year contracts? That's pretty bad considering they were gonna "die" fighting for 5.

Can someone explain how a cap is 60 but you can spend 70? Wouldn't it make the cap 70?

yeah i'm still confused at that part. maybe the 70 is for teams that are already over the 60 cap? and the 60 is for teams that are under it? especially considering 16 teams are above 60 million.

Yeah, that part confused me. I don't know where the 60 came from, I just saw the $70.2M as was established during the summer.

tsn is saying it, and so is the winnipeg free press. like i said it actually just seems like a cut off for teams under the 60 mill and a cut off for teams over the 60 mill (70 million)

That seems awfully unfair. What if a team is at $59M right now?

My understanding is that the cap is more or less set by the dollar amount of the players percentage of HRR...there was no way to make several teams cap compliant this season so they're allowing teams to spend to $70.2 - but the cap being set at $60mil means the cap floor will drop to $44mil. It's obviously way more complicated than this (escrow, etc).

If you want specifics on how this work I'd recommend reading the business of hockey thread, I haven't actually looked but I'm sure it has answers to these questions.

He also said that anyone thinks that one coach is in charge of any part of the system is whacked. One coach may work more with certain players on certain details, but after each practice the coaches get together and talk about strategy and that strategy is determined by Tmac.

They also said the PK is something they are working very hard on fixing (Duh) and Robinson had a lot to say, but I don't remember enough to go into detail except that he said that a lot of it is based on trust and that the Goalie and the players need to be in sync. Putting most of the blame on the Goalie is BS. Expects Niemi to have a much better season and loves him as a goalie.

One other thing Robinson said was that when they played the Sharks they were afraid of their "SPEED". Contrary to some peoples belief that it is all based on player speed, he focused on team speed including puck movement and that the Sharks are a fast team as far as he's concerned.

I was the person who asked the PK question BTW

tsn.ca has it, and so does the winnipeg free press (don't know the website)

Haha LOL.

I'm wondering when we start chants or signs that read:

Agreed!
It feels like this is a script. With every lockout you have your posturing, then PR crap, than more posturing, then the 16 hour race to the finish line, or marathon session, and then you have the media and fans asking why this couldn't be done in such and such a time.

I think the answer to that question is quite simply, they didn't feel like it.

I wonder what Roenick will call him this year. I still agree with him that when it comes to the playoffs, Marleau is gutless.

Because we have a soft ass team that refuses to go into the corners. TJ is what we need - he brings speed and tenacity while fat ass Patty and slow ass Joe standing there looking for the perfect pass. ****ing hate this team.

Team speed...puck movement...so basically Robinson is saying that because we can (in theory) make home run passes to Jumbo lazily parked at the opposing team's blue line (something he likes to do) while the rest of the team is in the defensive zone, that's somehow fast?

Because he had that one 6 goal game and the staff thinks he has more games like that in him. Sadly that was 20 games ago and he hasn't done anything but score 3 own goals since.

@CraigCustance Checked w/a couple GMs and they anticipated an early April trade deadline. @Real_ESPNLeBrun reporting that league suggesting April 5.

I know it's not officially finalized yet, but I'm guessing there is no reason the NHL cannot put out a schedule as soon as possible. Any ideas or rumors about when we'll get a schedule?

The schedules are finalized. They have one for a 48 game and one for a 50 game schedule. I would assume that as soon as the deal is actually signed they will put it out.

You didn't miss a beat and already are in mid-season form. Its like no games were cancelled.
