I drove by Steve Shields at 12:15pm on 9/19 (I was on my way to record an interview with Romney) who was by the Boston Common at the Corner of Charles and Beacon. He was hanging out & laughing with a friend...which could have been Nick Boynton (it was definitely an athlete) but I couldn't confirm it. He did look alot like Nick. Nothing to read into it of course: just a cool sighting
I am kinda looking for "how" Raycroft and Shields take the signing of Potvin in "how" each play in these games...sounds like Raycroft play well last night.
With Toivonen sorta locked at the AHL level for at least the start of the season and Potvin sorta locked with Boston as one goalie these two have to feel a little pressure to play better than the other.
Also don't forget about Thomas...he should be close to a spot in the AHL as well...not alot of room.
BTW...Do the Bruins have to protect Raycroft this season???
I don't think it would be a problem because I'm sure the Bruins wouldn't mind just leaving Shields exposed...but where would he play if he doesn't show something better at camp and in these games????
Would the Bruins really be able to trade Steve Shields????
I read a post here...that it might be interesting to see what a player and Raycroft would bring in a trade...just a thought.
I would like to see what Raycroft can do here 1st but it is interesting to think about..not sure there is alot of hype on Raycroft to be more than just a backup at this point from other clubs.
