Same goes for Arty, who I kind of wish we held on to but again, he underperformed last year as well and we got one hell of a player out of it.

So what do y'all think?
Neither did nothing to hurt the Rangers or embarrass the jersey.

They should get a standing ovation both of them

wasn't dubinsky the last PA rep... and everyone thinks arty is hilarious, at least in the locker room... so i'm sure the team will bring them to Warren 77 upon their return

I'll definitely cheer Dubinsky. He's a good guy and I think underrated here. I'm pretty indifferent on Anisimov and Prust. There's no reason to boo Anisimov but I wouldn't be surprised if Prust takes a minor cheap shot at someone to get the fans going.

I don't see why they wouldn't get some cheers on their first shift or something, but after that, whatever.

We traded them, they didn't skip town for more money. No love lost in imo, I'd cheer them.

I still think the Nash trade was a bad trade ... but that's just me.

Another year of development for both AA and Dubi makes that trade look even worse.

+ Dubi was my favorite player

guys who get traded away have no choice. and those guys i'm sure wanted to stay. no reason for bad feelings. but they are the opposition now. i'd definitely cheer them if i could afford to go to a ranger game. assuming there are ranger games...

If Prust ends up brawling with Asham, who will you guys want to win?

Looking for an Orr Brashear situation?

As with most fights I'd give very little care to who wins.

I disagree with the sentiment here. Prust is a fighter, and a middleweight fighter at that, who knows how much longer he has in his career. I don't fault him at all for taking all the money that was on the table.

***EDIT: Sorry, didn't see that mooskating wasn't saying those were his views, but just what he expected of the MSG crowd. I don't expect them to boo Prust, but that's why they play the games.

How much more are they going to develop? People need to stop valuing guys like they're rare coins around here

Seriously. Dubinsky is 26. Anisimov 24. They have over 600 games of NHL experience combined.

Dubi needs to figure out what kind of player he is. AA needs to improve his compete level.

Those are two things that are hard to put into a player. And if Torts couldn't do it, I wonder what coach could.

IMO Anisimov was held up by offense-hole sucking Rangers system. He should get better zone starts with Columbus. The way he was handled his rookie season on the 4th line with goons was embarrassing.

As time goes by I'm more ok with the trade. AA and Dubi will likely never be legit top 6 players, and while Erixon might be very good in a few years time we have the depth to overcome his departure. The 1st round pick is likely 3 or 4 years off (assuming he ever develops.) So yeah, we gave up several pieces, but got by far the best player in the bunch...and now for the first time in as long as I can remember we actually have three first line players on the team. That's pretty exciting.

And as much as I liked Dubi he is terribly inconsistent.

I'm sure there will be a group of people dumb enough and classless enough to boo them. But the majority won't. Why should we? They didn't want to be traded and when they were here they played their butts off. Dubinsky is still going to be one of my favorite players.

I would hope that Asham breaks Prust jaw and puts him to sleep.

Prust is no longer a New York Ranger, Asham is and my loyalties are 100% with the Rangers.

That was a line that was bigger than the sum of its parts, thanks primarily to Jagr being a beast his first 2 full seasons here.

Together they were a dominant first line, but I dont necessarily think of Straka and Nylander as "first line players"

I do put that label on Nash/Richards/Gaborik.

Jagr made Straka and Nylander 1st liners.

Straka in Pitt and NY AND Straka had the benefit of playing on a PIT team that had both Jagr & Francis and Lemieux at different points of his career.

Nylander had never sniffed 70 points until coming to NY to play with Jagr and never touched it after leaving Jagr's side.

Richards has been a 1st liner everywhere he has been.

Gaborik has been a 1st liner in both of his stops.

Nash has been a 1st liner throughtout his career.

These guys (Straka and Nylander) were not stand alone 1st line players. Neither could elevate the play of those around them. Neither could sustain their own level of play without the benefit of having Hall of Famers on their lines.

Nash is/was/will be a 30 goal scoring 1st line player regardless of who he is playing with and has demonstrated that for the last 8 years.

Gaborik scored 40 with a limited Minnesota team. Gaborik scored 40 playing with EC as his center in year one and scored another 40 this past season playing most of the season with Stepan and AA playing wing.

Richards was a 1st liner in Tampa Bay. He was a 1st liner in Dallas. He's a 1st liner in NY. Richards has averaged 73 points per season for the 10 full seasons he has not been injured. The one year he was hurt, he had 48 points in 56 games (a 70 point pace)

This IS the first time in a very LONG time that the Rangers have had a legit 1st line full of legit 1st line players.
