To older guys who play both ice & roller

Hi everyone! It's been a while, I hope everyone's doing great despite of the lockout

So, I finally got back to inline so I now play both ice & inline, woohoo! And I realize it takes way faster for me to warmup on inline (around 5 minutes or so) but it takes at least 15 minutes for me to warmup on ice. At times, I just can't get things going and even feel sleepy. While I do play in a slightly cooler city, I really don't think that's the cause.

Never had this issue when I was younger, I'm now 31 now so I thought maybe that's the problem. Any of you experienced something like this?

It's the cold of an ice hockey rink. Simple as that. When I play goal in roller, my stretching usually lasts about 45 seconds before I feel loose enough to play goal. On ice it takes a good 3-5 minutes and many more stretches

Physically its harder to get warmed up, but mentally, you're in a cold room and and bundled up in warm pads.

Totally normal and I expect it only gets worse as the years go by.

This. I'll be dead tired sometimes before I leave for the rink but when I get there and the cold air hits me I hit another gear and I'm ready to go.

Get to the rink a little earlier and do some mild calisthenics. Doesn't have to be anything extraneous. Just get the heart going and blood to the extremities.

31 isn't that old. Wait until you're 41.
