I'm on board with this. I fail to understand either side's negotiating tactics.
Mirtle, Dreger and a few others were debating on twitter last night trying to find a way to use the owners' make whole provision on top of meeting some of the players demands. They might negotiate a new CBA before any of these jackbags.
There's a launching point to be found if you look at all proposals side by side, and it's really maddening that they're not taking the time to do that collectively.
Just the big 4, though. No Crosby pouting in the corner or Jacobs ready to stand off at Bettman's side.
Ha.
See, the thing that pisses me off is the fact that the players running the PA are the high-paid, mega contract kind of people who couldn't give two ***** about the rest of the league. Of course they want their 100 million to be guaranteed.
The PA does a conference call with 60 players to discuss a deal. Out of those, how many do you think are third liners/second pairing dmen/backup goalies? I'll tell you how many - ZERO.
I bet this lockout would have already been lifted if the PA was forced to have an all-member vote on every proposal the NHL made. The solution is so painfully obvious, too.

Reason: grammar
They are currently getting none of it is the best part. Keep the statements coming Toews and Crosby.
This is what I don't understand. They have to know that they are flushing away a significant chunk of the money they are fighting over, while they take this long to fight over it. How is it acceptable if nobody gets the money?

Ya, it looks like they really do overrate Pajaarvi that much. Kind of absurd.
To be fair, it's only one foolish poster saying that none of the Devils' defencemen would make the Oilers, and he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about.

I hope the Wild languish in mediocrity forever, because Parise was dumb enough to take advice on winning from Dany Heatley.
So I was watching yesterday's Fehr press conference and the NHL should really have worked off the third offer. Not taken it, worked off it. If they could negotiate it in a way so that they don't have to honor contracts in full that go over a set number of years, I really don't see what the issue is (assuming there's no loopholes in the system) since most players are on 1 and 2 year contracts (in fact, wasn't the league planning on giving them full money for years 1 and 2 anyway?). So they spend more now, who cares? That's why this is negotiable and not a "take it or leave it" offer.
50/50 right now, honor any contracts in full that are under 5 years. 8 year contract limit. 8 years or age 28 to ufa. entry level stays the same. 7+ year cba. .
The players 3rd proposal is impossible to put in effect ,, It never reaches 50/50 split

The lawyers on both sides are creative, they'll figure out how to make it reach a split. The only problem with this is that the more convoluted it gets the easier it is to bypass.
Not to mention that it will reach 50/50 eventually if you cap how many years of contracts are grandfathered in. If all the contracts (still) in effect from before a new CBA get marked down after 3 or 4 years, there's your split.

I hope they languish in mediocrity as long as he's there because he said the most important thing was going to a team that's gonna give him a chance to win. Suter, and Parise are an upgrade, but I still see them BATTLING for a playoff spot if even ending up there. The Wild haven't won a playoff series since the month before Parise, and Suter were drafted into the NHL.
Also the Lightning scoreboard looks a little ugly to me with that shape.
They need to lock Bettman and Fehr in the same room with a case of liquor, and tell them that no one is leaving until there's a new CBA.
That's not a good idea. Take the liquor out, and it gets good. Knowing them they'll be heavily intoxicated when it's signed, and someone will claim they were drunk when they agreed to it so it won't count!
Oh great. Marty who has never been too great against the Leafs+Luongo who we are historically bad against=Good chance Leafs take 3 of 4 games against us, or sweep the season series.
Hopefully the Toronto media makes a bigger fool of him than the Vancouver media. This is his last chance. No one will take that contract after this with that many years left on it.
Florida would make more sense I thought. No pressure situation.
