Not sure if it has been mentioned but something like dynamic attendance would be a nice touch required little effort.

Basically if a team was successful on a year to year basis in Be a GM mode the rink would always be full and noisy. If a team did horrible on a year to year basis the rink should start emptying out ala Atlanta/Florida the past couple of years. Wouldn't really affect game play at all but it would be an interesting twist if you happen to play a lot of games during the regular season.

Of course there would be some arena's like Toronto that would always be packed regardless of their level of play. I suppose they could ditch their crowd's jerseys and put them all in suits though if the team was doing poorly.

This idea could be expanded to even simpler ideas that just make things feel more realistic. Could have fans leaving after a stoppage with 5-2mins to go as they rush to beat traffic.

This could be interesting because in Be A GM you could have a budget where you would have to play well to gain attendance, and you would have to make a certain amount of money by having a successful team and fans. This could make it a bit more challenging and fun.

1. Fix the menus.

I strongly dislike how after you play an online shootout it kicks you back out to the main Xbox live menu with the selection bar at the top option. At bare minimum, can the selection bar at least be on the most recent menu choice? Ideally, it should offer you at the end of the game (possibly better as a setting for the entire game) to play another match/shootout or kick you back out to previous hub you selected.

Eliminate [D-Pad Right] as a menu selection method, it is far too easy to end up selecting a menu option you didn't want simply navigating the menu up or down.

The "New" notification should disappear after I have selected that menu option. It is no longer new.

(Sort of menu related) enable multiple boot options (i.e. boot to EASHL, Be A Pro, Be A GM, HUT, etc.)

2. Fix the goaltender camera while playing the puck in EASHL behind the goal line. The goaltender is essentially passing blind while playing the puck because the camera angle barely allows you to see the face off dots (if at all).

3. Customizable goaltender masks.

4. Enable the goaltender to become the extra man when you come off the ice for a penalty or the goaltender is pulled.

5. Further develop that physics engine.

Sounds like what EA did in NHL 2004. I like that idea because it would make the GM mode more interesting. Plus, I'd love to see empty seats in a building (hopefully not my team's). I'm all for anything to make GM mode more interesting.

I want to be able to control the league in every aspect. We should be able to choose our own league, how many teams (6-50 or something), what teams, pick our own conferences an divisions. Have an expansion mode with a draft and trades.

Does that seem too far fetched?

Ability to earn pucks in other modes, they already tossed it on NHL Moments. I don't want to always play HUT but I feel like I'm wasting my time now when I'm not getting anything in return for a win playing VS. or whatever.

Does anyone think that NEW attributes should be added to the next game since it's something minor. Here are some of my ideas:

1) Vision: best suited for playmakers but would help for the passing.
2) Elusiveness: RNH, Yakupov and other players are best to describe what this means.
3) Shot release/quickness: Not every NHLer has a quick release like Ovie,Stamkos, etc.
4) Core/lower leg strenght: Sid the Kid is a perfect example of what I mean. He's small but very hard to knock off the puck due to his core/lower leg strenght.

Also, maybe add a player's specialty such as: Penalty Kill specialist, Power play quarter back, Face-off specialist stuff like that would be a minor thing to add as well

Im also really hoping that EA actually makes Draft eligible players "NHL ready" so they could actually start on the big club if they fare well in camps.

Speaking of camps, I strongly think there should a mini camp before the pre-games to see who you assign back to the AHL/CHL. There is always a darkhorse player that works his butt off and can steal a spot from a player. It's seen every year.

GM Mode has so much potential, ideas like these would make the game 10x better by adding some variety to the players. I love the PK specialist and PP QB/specialist ideas the best. Potential needs to be completely revamped IMO, its so predictable. This game could be SO much better... C'mon EA!!!

Trade Finder like the one in the NBA 2k series, where you choose a player or multiple players/picks and you can look through all the offers.

I'd consider him to be pretty friendly for a hockey player honestly, isn't dirty and isn't a goon at all, just good defensively.

They reaaally need to rehaul prospects and player development, they always screw it up... although NHL 12 wasn't too bad with it.

Re-think potential... yet again. The idea of rating prospects with stars isn't bad but the execution was very poor. What's the point of scouting if every rookie drafted will come out with the same potential rating as shown in the draft board? Differences in overall are largely negligible in the development scheme for 99% of the prospects.

Speaking of development, it was done awfully. Prospects pretty much make no progress until they get some playing time in either the NHL or the AHL. And the progress they make is exclusively based on their end-of-year stats, then the potential caps how much they can grow. This results in not only prospects turning out very late, but also in unrealistic growth curves.

Placing a prospect in a privileged position will almost always result in huge attribute growth (e.g. giving him 1st line minutes even if he's not very good; if he's got the TOI and points he'll grow like crazy), whereas giving him minutes that he should be playing will likely net minimal attribute growth (e.g. give him 3rd line minutes, get 3rd line points, maybe get a good +/- but result in no growth). Which is counter intuitive and unrealistic - the opposite often happens in the actual NHL.

The attribute growth itself is broken. It's ALWAYS biased towards offensive stats, even if the player is a TWF or a DFD or a Grinder; skating and physical attributes can never keep up which results in very unbalanced players when they finish growing - you'll see some guys with 90+ in most offensive stats but their balance, aggression, strength, etc. are all in the 60's or 70's.

The problems described aren't even the most aggravating aspect - it's the combination thereof. In the end, you can't develop prospects realistically - having young players play bottom 6 minutes is pretty much a one-way ticket to Bustland; the only way they'll grow is when they get Top 6 minutes and points. Plus, they'll only growth as better offensive players. No chance to develop defensive or even balanced players.

C'mon, EA. When we pretend to be GM's, can we actually get a decent simulation engine? -_-

I really like this idea. You could also add leadership (i.e someone who would make a good captain or assistant) and penalty shot specialist

I remember I had a soccer manager game years ago and they had something similar with free kick specialist, corner taker, penalty taker, long throw, leadership.

EA needs to add more options for staff upgrades in BeAGM, the only important one this year is the scouting one. They should have 6-7 of them, maybe something like this:

-Amateur scout(draft)
-Pro scout(trading block)
-Trainer(helps with strength, endurance...)
-Medical staff 1(prevention)
-Medical staff 2(rehabilitation)
-Development staff(helps develop prospects)
-Negotiator(help bring in better UFAs)

I'm sure they could add even more, maybe even split development into 3 sub categories(forwards, defenseman and goalie). And since there would be a lot more choices they could reduce the cost of upgrades and add new things to get more points, like winning streaks, beating a rival team, player milestones(50 goal season, 100 point season, etc...).

What exactly would you have it affect ingame?
Avoiding hits is the player's skill, and their ability to do so is affected by puck control and deking.

3) Shot release/quickness: Not every NHLer has a quick release like Ovie,Stamkos, etc.
I would like to see this though.

The strength attribute plays into this, and some guys who have a lot of points in strength and puck control, with 6'3" players are already impossible to knock off the puck without a hip check. I don't think it would be a good idea to make it even harder.

This is an ability thing, not an attribute thing.

I'd like to see leadership as a hidden attribute where you know it's there but you don't see the value. I don't like it when your captain is picked by just "Oh he has a bigger number."

Free agency needs to be fixed. I see a free agent on July 1 so I offer him a contract. 1 week later its a yes or a "no thanks, went elsewhere" That's not how it works, I should have an opportunity to re negotiate.

Also far too many veterans sty unsigned throughout the year, makes zero sense also

I think you should be able to see what the other teams are offering, I'm sure they would know in real life because the agent would tell them

They need to figure out a way to get out of this linear action path and make things dynamic. Everything is "Do a few things. Okay, now wait while we process it all." At the end of the season, every player grows or declines. Nothing in the middle of the season plays into it other than their point totals and some arbitrary multiplier.

During free agency, everything is done on a per day basis. You have seven opportunities to negotiate with all of your RFAs and UFAs before the market opens (Qualifying offers aside) because the "re-sign phase" is 7 days long. I should be able to send multiple offers per day to a single player and receive multiple responses.

Same thing with the draft. In what reality does all of the action take place before the round starts?

BaGM is a the same thing every year. An out-dated sim-engine that they keep bolting more and more crap onto because they don't want to go back and rebuild it.

If they brought back Rom Di Prisco to do the soundtrack I would be quite happy. In my opinion, the current soundtrack is terrible. Not only do all but one of the songs feel like hockey songs (I'll let you figure out which one stays), but they just don't appeal to me.

I know they added some what of this kind of system to NHL 12, but Dynamic Goaltending. Like a goalie completely giving his body stop a puck.

Echoing some things that have been said about Be A GM already, in hopes that EA is listening...

- the process of scouting and developing prospects really does need work.

Scouting feels pointless right now. The information it generates rarely affects my decisions, partly because so many prospects go unscouted and partly because it doesn't affect the projected draft order at all. Small amounts of inaccurate insight on skill sets are not enough to pass as a scouting simulation.

The draft could be improved simply by letting us trade in between picks. This is common sense for anyone who has ever watched a live draft.

It should be possible to find good players after the second or third round. Having a worthless 4th-7th round is just not acceptable from a sim standpoint.

Attribute growth is a huge problem. Some attributes always come up as weaknesses -- durability and faceoffs jump to mind. Player development seems to be tied strictly to stats, which only rewards offensive players and encourages bad lineup decisions. As noted many times above, players should not enter their primes at 25. It makes no sense to people who follow hockey.

- The Madden series destroys the NHL series on the business side. There has to be a way to do better for hockey fans, considering you've already written the software for another sport. Dynamic attendance, internal budgets, those kinds of things really deepen the fantasy experience.

- Why are goalies able to play all 82 games without fatigue? Makes no sense and again, encourages lineup decisions that would be terrible in real life.

- Owner expectations don't seem to allow for true rebuilds. That's a problem for players who have an aging team but don't want to get fired by starting a youth movement.

- The free agency process could really improve with some tweaking. The top free agents should be willing to take offers for at least a couple of weeks, if not the entire summer, because they stand the most to gain from a bidding war. It makes no sense for them to bite on an opening offer. Again, anyone who follows the game should pick up on that.

Overall I really like the BaGM mode, but the above are fairly crucial flaws in my opinion.

If EA just looked at what FHM is doing then GM mode would be the greatest thing ever. There is another topic already discussing FHM on the hockey talk and video games section so if anyone is wondering what I'm talking about, be sure to read up on that.
If EA actually just got the dev(s) at FHM to use FHM's system in the NHL series games, EA's game would probably be outstanding.

Please EA do something about the lesser known national teams rosters. I've been playing with the same made up Ukrainian goalie for the past 9 years! I guess this means you need a KHL license, but still you could put a bit more effort even without the KHLers. I think out of the entire Ukrainian roster they have right now, maybe 4 of the guys are real.
