IMO, it was just posturing- Russian speaking Bryz gave interview in English to the Russian speaking reporter, clearly it was intended to be heard across Atlantic.
Bryz had stated previously (years past) that he would not return to KHL permanently due to inferior levels in skills, competition and organization.
Additionally, he understands that contrary to NHL contracts, KHL contracts are not guaranteed and can be terminated almost at will.
He will be back- for better or for worse....
LOL @ him saying the skill level is inferior, sounds like it's perfect for him. He won't stay there because he has a lot of money to lose over here.

Pretty much, like others have said he has a ton of money owed to him in the next couple years. If you were him would you leave 31 million dollars in the next five years alone on the table to play in the KHL(homeland or not)? I think the answer for everyone would be no. Just a pipe dream hoping he stays over there, just hopefully he gets his act together and plays well for us.
Wouldn't surprise me if a couple guys stayed, but I don't think anyone of any real significance will.
Agreed. It's really a empty threat by players to say "pay us or we leave for more money." Some people will stay in the KHL for the cash, but I can't see it being anyone that would be a shocker/someone who can get what money they want in the NHL. The only reasons why players bolt to the KHL are because (1) no one wants them in the NHL, (2) they get paid way more in the KHL (everything is always about money), or (3) they want to play at home and feel more comfortable/want to end their career there.
Kovi and Ovi already stated that if the NHL cuts salaries they would stay in Europe, KHL pays their stars more than the Nhl. If this goes for Bryz it would be a godsend for the Flyers could terminate Bryz's outrageous contract. As for playing in the Olympics all players would still be eligible to play for their countries, there's no such rule to say otherwise, plus next winter Olympics is in Russia.

Everyone talks about how leighton sucks but his career as a flyer is MUCH better then bryzasters, as bad as leighton played in the finals against Chicago it was no where near as bad as ****sgalov series against the penguins, I would take 1 year of leighton at 900k then 8 more years of that piece of **** that is Ilya Bryzgalov
Well, 1 year of Leighton with our defense would certainly improve our draft position.
LOL , you think the draft position would change with the mental midget Bryzaster in nets??? What's laughable is that there are still people out there who think Bryz will turn it around and be a true top tier goalie. He is a horrible goalie who got lucky to bea goalie in a fantastic system in Phoenix. it had NOTHING to with Bryz. Mike Smith is putting up exactly the same numbers as Bryz, would people here be willing to give Smith a 9 year contract? Bottom line is Bryz is a below average\horrible goalie. If last season and his time in the KHL hasn't proved that people are blind.

I think I'll take the goalie who has been successful in the past and had a bad year over a guy that was waived by 4 or 5 different teams and had 3/4 of a good season.

What happened in anahiem then? was that just the "system" too?
Or the guy that led them through 2 post season series? oh yeah, that one.
Small sample size doesn't equal a career.

I don't think Bryz is very good. If you think Leighton can equal him though, you've clearly forgotten how horrific Leighton is. He really isn't even an NHL backup anymore, Holmgren just somehow can't realize that.
I'm willing to give Bryz one more season. After that...****, I don't know what to do. He's currently untradeable.
