Since it doesn't look like there will be hockey, I'm interested in watching the 76ers more this year. I watched parts of a few playoff games last season and I wanna see how the new team does without some familiar faces like Iggy, Brand, and Lou Williams.

Do you think the Nets should've taken the "New York" name instead of just Brooklyn? I think it would've been better to represent the whole city, not just one borough to grab more new fans.

Elton Brand is washed up. Don't think they'll miss him.

Brooklyn is a name and a brand that sells itself. The hype is already through the roof, and if you look at the merchandise, the Brooklyn name is the focal point.. The Brooklyn name is huge

This new Simmons article has me even more excited for the season.

http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/...st-immortality

I think I know the answer to this but I'll ask anyway, does everyone still want to see LeBron fail badly? Or do people want him to continue on from last season and have one of the greatest seasons ever like Simmons and many others predict he will?

Simmons writes about non-Boston stuff?

I don't care anymore about LeBron, he got his ring. He's good in my book

The facts are he didn't work out. Now whether he failed due to injury or not is irrelevant. He failed to succeed as a #1 pick. He is therefore, by definition, a bust.
Can we at least agree on him being one of the unluckiest draft busts ever?

To let it be known, I am a Net hater.

I think the Brooklyn name is fine for them. "New York" may have extended their fan base somewhat, but I don't think a "new" team in NY will grab that many fans. If people in NY are basketball fans, they are NYK fans. Brooklyn will get their handful of new fans, but I don't think the name will bring that much into it.

The opening game will buzz, but majority of it will def be NYK fans. Curious to see what kind of turnout they get mid to late season. I honestly don't expect anything crazy.

Well there is speculation now that the Heat might cut their roster down to 14 players, not the league maximum at 15. They have been keeping an eye on Oden, and they might bring him in sometime during the season.

Holy snot. From Woj

The Rockets send Kevin Martin, Jeremy Lamb and future draft considerations to the Thunder for Harden, sources tell Y! Sports.

Along with All-Star guard James Harden, the Thunder will send Cole Aldridge, Lazr Hayward and Daquan Cook to the Rockets, source tells Y!

As part of deal, Thunder will receive "significant" future draft picks from Houston, source tells Y! Sports.

Guess those negotiations weren't going as well as thought. I wonder if Harden wanted out or did OKC just get tired of trying to sign him and traded him off?

I definitely hope to see greatness instead of squandered talent. This is a guy with a great opportunity to go down as a top 5 player ever, and I hope he makes the most of it.

On that note

Quote:
Sometimes things happen in an NBA season where some guys get hurt and then spots get randomly filled with hilarious players picked up for 10-game contracts late in the season. At this point, that is kind of Earl Boykins’ career plan. It happens.

But sometimes you sign an old center and he gets hurt during the preseason and then another guy rolls his ankle and suddenly Eddy Curry is your starting center for the first game of the season even though you signed him like 10 minutes ago. That’s when you’re this year’s Dallas Mavericks. From the Dallas Morning News:

Eddy Curry figures to embark to Los Angeles on Monday with his new Mavericks teammates as the team’s starting center. [...]

“He’s doing OK,’’ Carlisle said. “He’s a force in the paint offensively. We’d like to get him more active defensively and rebounding a little bit more. But his attitude has been good, and he’s worked hard to get himself in pretty good shape.’’

Amazingly, Eddy Curry actually had a start with the 2011-12 NBA Champion Miami Heat last season. As I’m sure you would guess, it was during a completely meaningless game, the Heat’s last of the season. It came against the Wizards and the Heat lost by 34, which is kind of what you’d expect with Eddy Curry as your starting center. Before that, his last start was with the Knicks in March of 2008, which they of course lost. Prior to that, the Knicks lost another four games with Curry as their starting center.

That means a team that starts Eddy Curry at center hasn’t won a game since February 27, 2007, a period of 2,073 days by the time their season officially starts. So basically, bet on the Lakers tomorrow night.

Excited to watch the Rockets with Harden and Lin. Too bad the game isn't on primetime.

If Brooklyn was a city on it's own, it would be the 4th largest city in the US. Only New York (All 5 buroughs), LA and Chicago are bigger. So, it certainly isn't a problem with getting people in the area.

Same here. I'm curious to see how the Knicks will let me down this year.
