This sounds made up. What I heard is he nailed his head on the luggage cabinet when putting his bag on the plane and is out indefinitely with a concussion.

That's pretty funny.

The contrast between NHL jerseys and those abroad from the US are like night and day.

It's pretty different from league to league, and within those from team to team. Some leagues like the German DEL have restrictions on the amount of space sponsorships can take up, and while the designs are sometimes still questionable (they are bound to be as teams are popping out a new set of jerseys every year as is custom in basically sports in Europe), we're not quite getting that "NASCAR" look at all leagues or teams.

Ah, thanks for the clarification Viper. I've never paid much attention to the Euro leagues, but now I'm forced to for obvious reasons.

Some of those jerseys though, crazy. The golden helmet thing, is that something that happens a lot in the Euro Leagues or just confined to certain leagues or teams?

Perfectly understood. I wouldn't feel a need to pay attention to them, either, if the best league in the game was my domestic league, as well.

That's a rather special thing, for all I know. We don't have it in Germany. I know it exists in Finland, and I think it at least did in Switzerland some time. But that's all I know in that regard.

Switzerland does it still. Now for about 10 years or so. It's the topscorrer of each team gets it. For every scorrer point they get, they get 100.- from a sponsor for the junior team.

If I recall they had a yellow helmet, and later silver, in the SEL as part of a player H2H not long ago. Just like in Finland, the state-owned gambling company was behind them. It should be noted that they're one of the league's top sponsors(in Sweden, probably in Finland too) and have a certain influence. However the players didn't like the helmets because they felt like targets, and unless I've been living under a rock they don't use them in Sweden anymore. But jerseys and helmets are one thing, what I truly loathe is that euro leagues allow the ice to be filled with sponsor and colors. The ice should be white, and sponsors should be kept to the neutral zone.

I think they've said they won't play anywhere unless the NHL cancels the whole season. I've also read they wouldn't mind sitting the whole season no matter what.

So is the money they make... players and teams dont make the millions that the NHL argue over. They have to generate moolah through things like advertising. Maybe the NHL will adopt this after a few more lockout and money lost... doubt it but still

It's pretty much guaranteed that the NHL will have ads on jerseys in the near future
