Anyway, real-time stats are a bad way to compare players because the record keeping is wildly inconsistent around the league, because each stadium has their own people keeping track. Some stadiums have different definitions of a hit or a blocked shot than others, some are biased towards their own team, etc. The effect is much worse for hits than blocked shots, but still, neither is particularly reliable.
What is the criteria for being one of the people keeping track? Do they get regular eye tests? Not making a joke. Also are they tested on knowlegde? There should not be wild fluctuations around the league. Perhaps the trackers should be like refs and get moved around the NHL.

They're just team employees. And stat tracking isn't a high priority for anyone but the hardcore fans, so it's not like they're gonna spend any extra money training or testing these guys, let alone flying them around the league.
