Our last team was called the Renegades because we were given a choice -- Renegades or Beavers. So we ended up with Renegades because next to Beavers, Renegades was a fantastic name.

I would love them to be called the beavers. Its a very fitting name. Still think shiners would be great though. Its a nod to a very important part of Ottawa history, and is related to both the lumber trade and the canal. Also sounds like a "classic" name.

I actually have an old Renegades hat with a beaver on it. If I recall, they also had Renegade t-shirts with "Beaver Fever" on them and that beaver logo. Pretty sure that I had the t-shirt but cannot find it.

That's how I feel when trying to explain to people why 'Beavers' is such an awful name.

Then again, one of the radio stations in town(106.9 the Bear)started a campaign on their Facebook page to get the new team called the Bears. Good idea-and the logo isn't that shabby...

Kinda, I would vote for it just because it was yours from here no matter what it was against and just to be completely honest I really like the name a) based on the history b) because I'd support fellow hfer's just because, however just in my own personal opinion highlanders is not a name that blew me away. I don't know if there even could be one that would,and to be completely fair to me it's not hand and fist better than others.

Thanks, although I hope most didn't see it that way. I look to here for support because we're all a bunch of passionate hockey fans and most of us have interests in Ottawa. Part of the reason why the Heritage project has been so successful is because we got genuine feedback. I do appreciate the support though

By jumping out a head of it you basically are getting your idea off the ground before people can chose for themselves. If it wasn't for your idea I doubt anyone would have thought of highlanders.

Well not the name, the logo is mine for sure As for marketing, didn't do much this time around, it gained some steam on social media and then CBC called for tv and radio interviews.

Just about all 16 names Team 1200 are pushing sounds like generic stand-in names that sitcoms write into their scripts as the names of local sports teams when they don't want to pay the royalties to use the name of an IRL pro sports team.

Good and just saying I do really like it especially with everything together. I was blown away by the story and graphics, and I do really like the name. I would be very happy if we were the Ottawa highlanders tbh.
If I had too pick one left on the Team 1200 list, I would have to go with Outlaws.
Today I'm liking the Ottawa Lumberjacks. (I actually do like the name).
The mascot would be a Lumberjack.
The cheerleaders would be called the "Big Jacks" dance team
