It partially opened up overnight, hence the blood on the floor. He went into surgery for two hours and they drained it and cut out all the infected tissue, but had to open him up from belly to the top of his shoulder to do so. He has three drains put in and a massive wound. He's going to be in a cone for three weeks, more if his checkup next week reveals there is still some infected tissue. I was planning to go home in a couple days, but I don't know if I can with him like this.
Just saw this - hope he's doing better

I know it's a weird thing to think about at 12:10am on New Year's Day, but staring into my Mighty Ducks mug drinking some hot apple cider, I really like that old logo.

Happy New Year everyone.

Doggie update. He ripped open the stitches the day after and had to be rushed back to the vet. Two days later they did another surgery to get the last of the infection. He'll be in a cone for a few weeks, but he'll be ok.

For a split second I read that as "He'll be in a coma for a few weeks."

Anti-SEC super pride vs Anti-Notre Dame hasn't been relevant for decades.

So as much as the line for this game seemed too skewed to Alabama based on the fact that that they were the #2 team facing the #1 team... it's looking pretty accurate.

Has anyone seen the 48fps version of The Hobbit?

I'm curious what the effect is like.

I haven't seen it that version, but hear it's odd, and makes it look like a BBC drama.

Well, it DOES only run for 3 episodes

I saw the IMAX 3D and loved it, just trying to figure out what the high FPS version is like. I disagree with the reviewers on the film in general, so I'm not sure how to judge their reviews of the format either.

When I saw it, the film fan in me said, "meh", while the Tolkien fan in me said, "MORE"!

I saw it, and I really liked it. (Tech portion of the name coming out) The HFR is actually on a 4k-2k projector (twice the pixels of 1080P - 1920x1080 * 2) The detail from this alone is awesome. The motion is better too and the 3d of the higher frame rate makes things look more fluid. I did find that some of the CG seemed more unrealistic because everything else looks so much more clean. It makes the CG portions seem like a 5 year old video game cut scene - good but you know it isn't real and it does detract from the movie experience for me at least. As a guy that owns an AV company I think the better resolution will catch on in homes and higher frame rate already has.

I don't know your fancy words, but that thing you said is the thing I wanted to say.

I thought the issue with 4K for home use was the lack of ability to deliver anything in 4K content for home use? As well as the 25K entry fee for a tv.

Thanks for the review, I'm going to see it for the experience at least.

Jesus.

"... I also lived across the street from Florida, I'm an Alabama football fan, an Arkansas basketball fan, and my father went to Ole Miss."

Very cool, nevertheless, even if you didn't get as good of an education as you would've gotten from a Pac-12 school.
