Must be a good Aces squad this year.

Not that this will stop the barrage of "not good enough for the ECHL" jokes, but I'm pretty sure Gomez was only ever going to be there for training camp, and he and the team had mutually agreed to part ways when it was over.

No, he was released from his tryout and signed a standard contract.

Well that doesn't seem like standard procedure, but do we have any reason to believe that's not what's happening here with Gomez?

It's pretty standard in the minors.
If an AHL player is on an AHL SPC and signs an NHL contract, you'll see them released from their AHL SPC and added on loan from the parent club right away.

You'd think if that was the case with Gomez, it would have been listed under "Other transactions", not as an outright release.

Gomez was only playing their during training camp to stay in shape. He was never going to play the regular season there. Ruins a good rip on Gomez story though.

Why would he care? He already made more money than he should ever be able to spend. If there is one player this lockout shouldn't bother, its him.

If Gomez always intended on just being there for camp, this is not really a story, then, is it?
