Okay i'm not buying this why in the world would they expand two more teams in canada and ignore Seattle altogether. Unless they plan to move phx to seattle this doesn't make sense to me.
quebec, for sure. and i can see the markham badgers play at the acc for a couple of years until the motoroladome is finished, but i can more easily see the tigers playing at copps right now.
i do agree with killion's theory tho', that belgers would likely have had to sign off on any and all objections to GTA2 when they were approved to purchase mlse.

Regardless of that who just bought the Leafs? The two largest media companies in Canada. They would likely ratehr have an additional 42 games to broadcast on their networks over the minimal fan loss to a new team in the area.
I believe that one in Quebec would immediately garner a massive following; the passion of Nordiques fans was never in question, and the attendance even during horrid years reflected that.
I wouldn't mind southern Ontario, mostly because I would love for there to FINALLY be some clarification on the 50-mile radius.

So who ever said the Leafs and Sabres have teritory rights over Hamilton not getting an NHL team is wrong?
IMO the only expansions would be quebec and Seattle. I don't see another Toronto team via expansion unless quebec or Seattle get a team via relocation.

One of those relocated teams is going to Seattle baring any issues that results in the Sodo arena not being built. Seattle is on top of the relocation list.

I don't believe talent is diluted. I'd argue that the league has never had such a deep talent pool.

the only real threat to the talent pool is the KHL. They're going to steal the NHL's star European players.
If THN truly had any inside information, then it would be published right away. Nobody who has 'Breaking News' waits two weeks a fortnight to publish it. My guess is that the article will be based purely on concurrence and speculation, maybe some quotes from former executives to top it off.
Can't have an expansion. Talent pool is too diluted. If anything, it would be a relocation. QC and Seattle, not Toronto or anywhere in the GTA, it would happen in the future when NHL becomes successful in locking southern markets and make them profitable, which probably would take 100 years, relax I'm exaggerating, it would take 50 years.

I would have to think that given Seattle's arena deal (NBA tam required to build), Seattle could dip below QUE/SEA if the NHL is using expansion as a CBA negotiating tool.
Expansion creates a big bargaining chip. They'd be trading an item from their CBA wish list for three players 19-25 on their organizational depth chart.
