he maybe done, but this is a closure issue. he would never know if he gave up now how this idea would work. ya gotta try it. two blockers is not prefered but he will be able to make saves. alot of goalies block the net net more than neccessary anyways, add blackburn to this list. but nobody knows exact how negatively this will effect his game, or what the intangibles of good glove use are. should be interesting.

I don't know the exact measurements, but his blocker looks a lot smaller than a normal glove does.

Especially with the gloves today. I still wear 32" pads and my glove and blocker are from '96.

Ya gotta admire his heart. Getting used to a waffleboard on your glove hand has got to be freaky.

Looking at those pictures kind of reminds me of a disabled dog.

Feel really bad for the guy. Such a great talent and great attitude.

He didn't play tonight, I was at the game.....he officially doesn't sign with us until Friday - expect him to start Friday, as well as probably Saturday, unless something goes terribly wrong on Friday night.

By next week, we will have some video highlights for you here:

http://www.salmonkings.com/schedule.asp

Speaking of terribly wrong, Purinton got 42 minutes for one fight tonite, cost us a 7 minute penalty kill.

Infractions:

Game misconduct
Match Penatly
Instigator
Hair Pulling
Fighting
Continuing to fight

Wow, two of those I've never heard of....

its pretty much a standard blocker an open and thick palm for covering up pucks. this means it can be (and probably is) 16 in X 8 in. the maximum size for a glove is 16 X 9. it won t affect the blocking aspect of his game.

We have lost 19 games in a row, we are the worst team in minor-pro hockey. even though we have 4 NHLers now.....

The win moves Fresno to 23-16-4 this season, equaling last season's victory with still 29 games left on the schedule, and keeps the Salmon Kings winless over their last 19 hockey games (0-17-2).
The "2" above are not ties, they are an OT loss and a SO loss....

If he wins Friday, fans will have the coaches head if he doesn't play Saturday as well....

Here's to hoping Dan Blackburn's great attitude pays off. You can't help but root for a guy like him especially when so many other players would probably just call it quits.

Btw, he looks like Field Hockey goalie with the double blocker, that's what they use if I'm remembering correctly.

Danny doesn't care. The Rangers don't care. Blackies fans don't care.

I dont mean to be an ass about it but hes not going to play 2 games in a row because the team needs him. His shoulder will be really sore after the first game because it will be worked a lot.

I hope he plays both games, it means he's really healthy. But I highly doubt it.

If any goaltender can make the adjustment to a two blocker system, it's Blackburn, the kid is as strong mentally as they come.

THIS is how the league can improve scoring! Let them wear the huge pads...but no gloves! Two blockers per goalie! I love it!!!!!!!!!

I was just wondering if there is any chance they may give his shoulder one more time in effort to fix the nerve one more time. If they wouldn't, why not? I'm just curious and don't know too much about injured nerves.
