I was a pretty big Jays fan a couple years ago and would actually watch them all the time on TV. Slowly, I've slowly become less and less of a fan and I don't even pay too much attention to them anymore. However, I still cheer for them and are pretty pumped that they got these trades done. I stopped watching them because they got too boring, but with this new lineup they might get me to start watching again.
I know not many on here care for baseball but damn I am excited now that Bud Selig allowed the Marlins/ Jays trade to go through. That along with the Cabrera acquisition makes the Jays a legitimate threat to win the AL East and who knows?
I might actually be watching meaningful baseball in August and beyond.
When I heard the trade went down last week, i nearly crapped my draws
Then the Cabrera signing... AA is really trying to make a push.
I still think there are more deals to be made
They have 3 major league catchers. One will have to go. My money is on JP.
They also need to do something about 1st. I would love to see an upgrade there, however that may be easier said then done.
Recycling previous managers can bring a lot of criticism, for obvious reasons, which it seems to be. But, I think Gibbons is good choice, and I think he's a bit underrated right now. Guy doesn't take any crap, players like him, like playing for him and respect him, he's smart in how he utilizes his bullpen, etc.
I am a bit surprised by the hiring, but I do like it. I think John Gibbons can do well with this team. His traits will rub off on them, and I think it's a good recipe.
