Starting workouts at home is a good way to go about it. What I would suggest though is soon as you feel a bit more confident (which is probably sooner than you think) is to sign up for some sort of class/activity or join a group. Turn your exercise sessions into a social event, where you have peers that push and support you. A different environment from your home, which doesn't sound like a very supportive atmosphere (though I'm sure they love you, sometimes parents just don't have a frickin clue how to support their child's endeavours). Getting into supportive environments is what has kept me going for the last 15 years or so.

I was kind of an overweight kid in college, never athletic. (5'8 and a very soft 200lbs). I started working on things at home. Small workouts, and making a few diet changes. After I built some confidence up I started to go to the gym, making friends, becoming a 'regular'. Joined a martial arts club, a running club years later. Since then I've earned a black sash in kung-fu, and have ran 3 full marathons and many half-marathons.

And you can still love your food. Food is awesome. If there's two things I really appreciate in this world is 1) food and 2) the human body. I'm not talking about appearance, so much as what it's capable of. Your body is capable of fun, amazing things if you take care of it. The most useful and fun toy/tool you will ever own. (well aside from your brain maybe)
Great post! I think that is the thing that gets lost sometimes in fitness. It shouldn't be about how you look, it should be about your body being able to allow you to do fun activities and last you a long time.

Looking good is just a pleasant byproduct.

I got this in a response to questions about Center Ice on Shaw.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you so much for your patience as we worked yesterday to finalize details surrounding NHL Centre Ice.

Here is the information you have been waiting for:

Price: $49.99 + applicable tax (one time, no monthly payment options)

Remember, Shaw Friends get an additional 15% off!

Free Preview: January 19th, 2013 – January 31st, 2013

Requirements: Shaw fibre fed markets, MPEG 4 capable hardware

NHL Centre Ice will be available to order tomorrow, January 16, 2013.

Please Chat or call 310-SHAW tomorrow to have the package added to your account.
So, for Shaw Friends it's about $45 for the complete shortened season?

Edit: Didn't seen the "Jets on TV" thread.

I get to work and I'm locked out out of all my systems because apparently my user ID's expired. Ugh. I haven't done anything in an hour and 20 minutes so that's a bonus.

Also, if you're in the Jets broadcast area the Jets will be blacked out on Centre Ice (along with any game broadcast nationally). Would mainly be for people who can't get TSN Jets or those of us that like to watch any hockey game they can. Just FYI, I know that's obvious to some of you.

So I moved to BC this winter leaving my season tix to my bro (until/if I return to Wpg). I purchased NHL gamecentre last night with the intention of using my PS3 to stream the games on my big screen. Well apparently they don't have the 2013 version of the application ready. I called the tech support and they said it should be available in a few weeks....
Looks like I'll have to hook my laptop up to the TV in the meantime.

On a side note I haven't got too much flack for wearing my jets gear around here (BC interior). I guess the Canucks fans stay closer to the coast.

Whereabouts in BC did you move to, if you don't mind me asking?

I saw on the main boards that there were rumblings that Centre Ice would be given to American and Canadian customers for free as a peace offering due to the lockout. I guess that isn't the case. Although $50 for the entire (albeit short) season is still a pretty good deal.

I really wish I would have thought about that before changing my username to funkybunny to mess with Frugy.

I look forward to his updates this season.

I think that's what I have missed the most. Starting with deciding what type of pie he ate before posting the video.

I stumbled on a video of him recently, he was reporting on the weather. He also seems to have been doing some IceCaps highlights by recording his computer screen with his camera. High tech stuff, y'know.
