I know this isn't (entirely) thread worthy, but, with the lockout and all....
The wife asked if I want an Isles jersey for Christmas.
She knows I'm not wanting to put money into Wang's pocket (or any other owners) for as long as I can hold out, because of the lockout and my belief that the owners are being big *richards* than the players...
Question: Has Wang committing to Barclay's/Brooklyn earned him enough brownie points to justify getting a nice blue Hamonic jersey?
Realistically, the team was GONE if they didn't go to Brooklyn. We're in Brooklyn because Wang wanted to keep the team in the NY market. Nassau had 20 years to get a new arena and failed. If someone blames Wang or the Islanders for leaving Nassau, they are an idiot. He gets a clean slate. Buy it.
I hope now that the future in the market beyond 2015 is secured, the Islanders fans show up in force and we have the dough to turn a young upstart team into a team that can make a run in the playoffs. Then once we get that Barclays dough, be contenders.
I told my wife that once the arena issue was settled and they were staying, that I would get my first authentic jersery, as I've had all replicas.
Is the Islanders site or shop.nhl.com the only place to find authentic jerseys?
I may wait until the move to get it, figuring they may have a patch on the shoulder for the inaugural season at the Barclays Center. Also debating on a name, after getting burned on my Melanson, Hrudey, and Turgeon jerseys I don't usually get a name anymore.
I know his term with the Isles will be short-lived, but I am thinking Nabakov because I worked for the Cleveland Lumberjacks when he started his career. I had to get quotes from players after every game and he was always easy going.
