There were rumors he was gonna sign in Houston anyway, but for Parsons to just come out and flat out say it is somewhat unprecedented.

What gets really interesting now is how bad Chris Paul and Dwight wanna play together. Today's business in LA aside, Houston could make it happen with some tweaking. I worry a teensy bit about a back court of CP3 and The Beard, they're both ball hogs, but I'm sure they could make it work.

Who's ready for a 2014 NBA Finals of Paul//Harden//Howard and the Rockets against Bosh//James//Wade and the Heat

They can't afford him. They would need the Lakers to do a sign and trade which isn't going to happen.

I bet the Lakers would rather lose him for nothing than make a trade with the Clippers. Esecially since they'll most likely have to take on Jordan's awful contract. The Lakers want to make a run at next year's free agents so they won't be taking on any big contracts. I don't think they have a shot at LeBron but if they wait an extra year (July 2015), they could be one of the front runners for Kevin Love.

Blake Griffin and Eric Bledsoe for D12 is the S&T that was supposed to be floated around.

I don't know if it's been offered but it's already been reported that there's not a chance in hell Mitch Kupchak would do that deal. So Clippers are likely out.

I wouldn't completely count out Houston or Atlanta.

Atlanta only has THREE players under contract. Al Horford, Lou Williams and John Jenkins. And the only FA they probably care about re-signing is Teague and he's an RFA. I'm pretty sure Josh Smith is moving on.

I have no idea why. Get two guys who fit your team perfectly, are young, and save cap space. Makes too much sense.

I'll have to look for the article, but I read somewhere that with the way taxes work, he could actually make 8m more in Houston than in LA, even though LA could pay him more.

I remember reading that article as well. I believe he can make $8M more in Houston if you don't count the fifth year the Lakers can offer him. The fifth year would most likely be a player option and he would probably opt out so if you compare the two four year contracts, he makes more playing for Houston because of all the money he saves on taxes.

But if you compare the five year Lakers deal to the four year Rockets deal, he would be taking $30M less with Houston but after you account for taxes the difference is only around $15M. That's still a lot of money but unless he suffers a serious injury, he can easily make it up.

You'd have to figure he opts out of the fifth year regardless. It'll be his last chance to get a "Big Money Deal"

I think he winds up in Houston TBH. Chris Paul is another story all together tho.

Dwight is a crazy good big man but he does have some issues. If you call the money a wash, just some food for thought. Who is Houston's Coach? First ballot Hall of Famer Kevin McHale, one of the most dominant big men in NBA history. Who works with their players? Hakeem Olajuwon, arguably the best center in NBA history. You gotta figure Dwight can and should relate better to McHale than he would with D'Antoni.

Broussard was just on ESPN saying, "I'm told it's highly unlikely Howard stays with the Lakers"
