If just for one season (this season) and both play the same amount of games... I take Letang, I think if it is any time period longer then I take Pietrangelo 100% of the time.

For just one season? Kris Letang. He's the only defenseman I would have considered swapping with Karlsson for last season only.

I voted too close, but I give an edge to Pietrangelo. He's a defenseman who has developed into a top 2 d-man quickly with high point totals without a crazy high scoring team around him. Letang I feel, while still great, had much of his offensive game and development be the product of Crosby a bit.

Tough question. I think Pietrangelo is more talented but Letang has been playing better over the last year.

Pietrangelo pretty easily for me. Pietrangelo can match Letang offensively, and defensively there's a huge gap between them.

This is me too. I think at a basic level, Letang looks to be a better defenseman today than Pietrangelo. However, I am very much sceptical how much of Letang's game is positively influenced by playing with Crosby, Malkin, Neal, and in front of Fleury on a team that has finished top 4 in the East in every year since he's entered the league.

Too close to call for me, but I'd probably lean towards Pietrangelo if I'm choosing a defenseman for the future.

Slight lean towards Pietrangelo. Much better defensively and similar offensively until this past injury plagued season for letang, I think letang has better offensive skills, but the gap is closer offensively in favor of letang than it is defensively in favor of Pietrangelo. Thus Pietrangelo.

Pietrangelo but the gap is closer than the poll indicates. And Pietrangelo is probably my favorite defensemen in the NHL.

Pietrangelo is bigger, better defensively, and plays a safer game in general, but Letang is quicker, better offensively, and actually more physical despite being smaller. I think I'd give Pietrangelo the slight edge in terms of play when healthy last season, but it's very close.

Pietrangelo is way ahead of where Letang was at 22, I definitely think his upside is quite a bit higher, but if we're just looking at the present it's really close (though I'd still give Pietrangelo the slight edge).

Pietrangelo is ridiculously overrated on these boards, but he's the better player here for sure.
