Around 15 minutes usually. Sounds like the coaching staff wasn't too happy with him after the last game though. Might have something to do with the lack of icetime today.

He'll probably get stuck on Horcoff's line (5on5) unless he improves on his defensive game.

(Smyth\Hall)-Horcoff-Yakupov

Agreed.

He's become a figurine. He cannot maintain a stream a thought. It's actually embarrassing and I feel bad for him. When he loses it you can see him compensate for it by increasing the volume of his voice. Nothing more.

His defensive game isn't as important as you think it is.

He will be in the top 6 because he will score many more goals than he'll ever cause.

There are more Art Ross trophy winners in the top ten of the all-time plus/minus list than there are Selke winners.

his defensive game may limit his icetime at NHL level just like it is effecting his icetime in KHL. If a face of the league player like Ovy can get stapled to the bench due to line matching in close games then the same can happen to Yakupov.
If Hemsky plays like the Hemsky we want then Yakupov will find himself on the bench a lot 5 on 5.

Ovy's ice time was a function of the score in last year's playoffs (he wasn't stapled to the bench when the caps were behind) and if he was still scoring 50+ goals per season, he would be playing featured minutes regardless. Hunter's usage of him was also a bad idea and his ice time will likely go way up under Oates.

Hemsky isn't ahead of Yakupov on the depth chart. If his numbers recover it will probably because he is playing on a line with Yakupov.

Here's a link for Yakupovs game this morning. Once again, not sure on the time-zone translation here. Enjoy.

I think based on my conversion it should be 8:00 AM this morning...

Was Yakupov even on the ice for that 5 on 3?

Brutal coaching. Just brutal.

Doesn't look like Nail is even getting a regular pp shift.

Coach is ********. Nail is clearly the best player on the team and I have not seen him on the ice in 10 minutes.

Nail is 8th in TOI for forwards so far tonight. Since he's far and away his teams best offensive weapon, this seems to be an example of a really bad coach.

He must be getting punished for being selfish and going with the national team to the subway series. Clearly in that time he has forgotten the team system. Also, shares in YakuCorp are down after Nail's so-so showing at the super series and it would reflect poorly on the team to invest itself too much in a stock that's falling.

The coach is trying to 'fix' him. I dont have a problem with it. Might be good for him.

That was after his first game back from subway series.

Awesome...

Can we start the season already and get his ass over here? I don't like his coach.

Hopefully, Krueger will be smart enough to derive substantial benefit from Nail's offensive gifts (offensive zone starts and powerplay time) while working around his defensive deficiencies (fewer defensive zone starts and not matched up against other team's stars).

So Yak draws a call, and doesn't get PP time with his team down a goal in the final minutes, even with 6 attackers. Brutal coaching.

Yakupov probably would have buried one of those 2 open looks on the right hand side. I am glad I'm not a Niznekamsk fan because I'd be losing my mind right now.

Yeah because everybody should be perfect. Hard to see if the kid is fixed if he never get's on the ice. Then he draws a penalty and doesn't get rewarded.

Seems like a very smart negative reinforment fix this dumbass coach has.

Russian coaching in general seems pretty poor.

From their general insistence on 5 man units, to their common refusal to line match, to Yakupov being used completely counter productively in both the Subway series and the KHL, amoungst a list of other question marks, there are a lot of head scratching commonalities in Russian coaching.
