He's quick and speedy, but to me, that's about it. His skills are nowhere near the level they need to be at to play a top 6 role or with Hodgson.
He drew a nice penalty early on by using his speed, then later on took a terrible delay of game penalty. He should be a 4th liner and nothing more, for now.
I hate Rolston's PK more than anything. It's set up to fail. I don't get it. No aggressiveness at all. Teams have time and space to work with all day.
What amazes me is that Rolston somehow doesn't see that every other team is incredibly aggressive on the PK against us and it shuts the Amerks power play right down, yet when we're killing a penalty we just sit back and let them do what ever they want.
Coaches need to stop giving ice time based upon the name on the back of the jersey. There is no way players are getting ice time or being on speciality teams based on performance. Players know that and you will never win with that mentality.

That's another story and another reason (of many) why I don't like Rolston.
Ice time isn't earned. It's based on who you are and when you were drafted.

Totally agree. The PK has no clear strategy. No aggressiveness. The B-Sens cycled all day on them. Painful to watch.
The PP is frustrating, too. They have dangerous personnel, but don't get traffic in front of the net, so when they get shots through 1/10 of the time it's saved easily.
Eventually Girgs is gonna have to get PK time cuz they are floundering...
Adam looked terrible, idk when he got the idea he could go end to end deking everyone in his path out but that got old the first 5 times I watched it.
Girgs was awesome, imagine Gerbe in a much bigger frame. Tries nonstop idk if I ever seen somebody take and give more checks in a game hes constantly engaged.
Foligno other than his one big hit was relatively silent which was suprising.
Cody's footspeed does look improved to me, he makes smart accurate passes.
Brennan...what happened? Constantly out of position. McNabb had a subpar game and honestly Finley n Mackenzie on the top pair is a brain scratcher. Schistiel was subpar....the defense is deep but has a ways to go.

Coho's passing and vision is top notch; he just needs people to finish!
Brennan looked awful, to be honest. I'm not sure if it's been like this for the past few games, or just a one game thing.

No, TJ and Luke so far seem to have been going back and forth to see who can be the worst player on the ice. Not a good start for either of them. Don't know what's going on there, but it's not pretty to watch.
Well Brennan was always putrid in the defensive zone, from start to finish last season. The only difference is he eventually started to contribute consistently offensively.
With the comments about how crappy the PK is. I'm surprised Ruff hasn't gotten involved in some way to fix it. Whatever folks think of him overall as a coach. He usually has a good to very good PK and it plays the exact opposite of what I'm reading about Rolston's.
I think someone mentioned Sundher played? If so, who was he in for and how did he look?
He replaced Schofield, he didn't do anything too amazing out there, but I didn't notice him making any huge mistakes either. First time I've seen him play so I don't have much more than that.
