Domi or Gauthier seem interesting picks. I would hope Domi falls to us, he sounds like a mixture of Eberle & St Louis.

anyone know much about Artturi Lehkonen?

We need to pick up the best forward possible in the first round. After that, we should pick forwards over defenseman unless a defender drops really far (Severson, Scarlett).

Is there any top NCAA undrafted guys that are turning pro this year? Lou should maybe sign one or two guys, I think Joe Whitney's younger brother is a senior this year, he's outscoring Joe Whitney's senior year, so maybe the Devils should sign him too.

I just want mostly forwards from here on out. I think we've stocked up on defensemen because at the time most were drafted we were a defensive team still. I wouldn't mind trading one or two for forward prospects. It might be hard for the defensemen to get up here for a couple years anyway. If there's no season I don't think anybody gets moved, and we just don't re sign Zidlicky.

With the draft this year in Nj and us likely not having a 1st rounder next year, I'd like to see us swing for the fences a bit and try to move up n the draft to get a top level forward talent.

I don't think we have our 3rd rounder this year and I'd like to keep our 2nd since it's supposed to be a pretty deep draft. So that might mean moving a prospect with our pick and that means likely a dman.

If we can get up around #10-#12, there might be some excellent choices available - Shinkaruk or Domi or if we're in the 15-18 range, maybe Gauthier, Mantha, Erne or Dickinson?

Probably available in the 2nd round, take a shot on a guy like Hudson Fasching the big RW.

I need to do more homework on this draft. Work has owned most of my time though. Seems like a deep forward pool though. Time to make the picks count.

We'll go BPA as we always do, but I think it's more likely to be a forward that is the BPA in this draft.

Baby Ovechkin?

http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=70426

Apparently he made a progress defensively and should be drafted this year. Will be one of the key players for Team Swiss.

Your thoughts Jason?

Based on his statistics alone you'd think someone would of taken a chance and drafted him last year.

Well, same could`ve been said for Pearson or Slepyshev and yet here we are.

I got my tickets for the Armada/Mooseheads game on the 20th of january. Can't wait to see Drouin and MacKinnon live... oh yeah, Matteau is going to be there as well

I really liked Slepyshev during the draft last year and was hoping we'd take a late pick on him. Then again I was tired and probably hung over in the lower bowl so I may be remembering incorrectly.

Nice! I'm tempted to go do another Plymouth/Michigan trip just to see Connor McDavid, but I probably can't do it this season.

Slepyshev's KHL contract must have scared off everybody last year from even taking a chance in the 7th round. Or he set off some other red flag like saying he wanted to quit hockey to join a Russian boy band.

-----------------

Zadorov got cut by the Russian WJC team, so that's one less draft eligible for us to watch over the holidays.

Interesting. I thought the cuts were supposed to be made tomorrow when they announce the final roster. Not very Russian-like.

What about Nichushkin?

This may already have been answered in previous posts and I didn't look, but if there is no season how is the draft even set up? Is it based on the 2012 season?

The precedent is the 2005 Draft. It was a weighted lottery which involved all 30 teams for 30 spots. There is no guarantee that they'd do it like that again. I imagine some GMs/teams weren't exactly thrilled by the structure of that one. In particular, Florida only had one lottery ball because they won the draft lottery twice in recent years (2002/2003). They were still a mediocre team but were saddled with the 29th pick. The order was also done as a snake draft.

As I understand it, there won't be a draft if there's no CBA. The last CBA redefined some draft rules as well; Most notably Europeans older than 22 were now free agents and didn't need to be drafted.

In 2005 they came to an agreement and hastily put together the draft lottery + draft about a week afterwards. Ottawa also lost the draft that year as it ended up being conducted inside a local hotel's conference room rather than their arena. Ottawa was awarded the 2008 Draft as a makeup.

I'm really hoping both sides can get a season together. I'd hate to see the Devils lose this draft. If they can get a shortened season in, the draft would probably be in early July. I already have plans to come out for that and try to stay for the MLB All-Star game at Citi Field on July 15-16th.

Hmm so it would certainly be interesting. If they are going to do a 30 team lottery it might as well be straight up and not weighted. They really can't base it on 2012 because of how much happened over the summer with FA's. NJ for example losing Parise was huge so it isn't the same team that "went to the cup Final" and therefore they get second to last pick.

Just thow all the team names in a hat and pick.

So would everyone else, but what can you do? We`ll get it, eventually, just like Ottawa in 2008.

Hopefully not next year, when we most likely won`t have a first rounder. #laughthroughtears

Philly got awarded the 2014 Draft already......a bit unusual that they named it well in advance.

I can see history repeating here. The Penguins are going to get McDavid in a lottery and the league will ride his nuts in its marketing campaign to bring the fans back after the lockout.

It would be freaking sick if they missed out on this years draft if there's no CBA in place by that time, meaning that both draft years would be held in the same draft (2013 and 2014).... wich would see us pick no one in the 1st round cause we'd have to forfeit ...
