"RT @LindsayRae19: Oregon State fans need to take a deep breath. Sources telling me reports about Riley interviewing at Wisconsin are false."

Lovie on hot seat

Would love Gruden (Can fix offense ,, Keep Marinelli as DC to keep D mostly intact)

Bears would probably just go super cheap route and name Tice HC

Doubt that we'd promote from the inside for Lovie's replacement if we don't make the playoffs, but that's more likely than us landing Gruden.

It's time to Schwartz is in the discussion. Being blown out by the Cardinals is inexcusable

Any team ran by one of his proteges is one less Belichick has to worry about.

Can you really call him a Belichick protege though? He was basically the NFL equivalent of a grad assistant for Belichick in Cleveland over 15 years ago but then spent like almost ten years under Jeff Fisher who is also a defensive guy. Fisher probably had way more to do with shaping him as a coach than Belichick.

I think Bill O'Brien is going to be a really good coach whenever he decides to go back to the NFL, but that's just me.

Bill might be that good.

At this point the Pats on your resume should be a negative.

They also need to evaluate that Schwartz is letting Stafford get lit up by not giving him OL help, and that a defensive coach doesn't have a good defense. And that last year was such a rousing successful playoff appearance because Jay Cutler got hurt

Seems odd that Wisconsin hasn't hired anyone yet unless I missed it.

He has a track record, but his assistants don't really tend to do that well when they go out on their own.

Though granted it's a bit of a stretch to include Schwartz in there, given that it was about a decade and a half between when he last worked for Belichick and when he got a head coaching gig.

My point was exactly that. Schwartz isn't a Belichick protege hence it's a stretch to expect him to be like Belichick or to pin his apparent failure on Belichick not properly tutoring his assistants.

Belichick's coaching tree is relatively small because he has relatively little attachment to his assistants. Unlike some coaches Belichick doesn't have "his crew" and that might be a smart thing given how loyalty to assistants has cost many coaches their jobs in the past.

San Jose State will announce Monday afternoon that it has hired Ron Caragher as its new head coach, according to a source close to the situation.

Caragher, who has spent the past six years as head coach at the University of San Diego, replaces Mike MacIntyre, who left for Colorado a week ago.

The 45-year-old Caragher is a Morgan Hill native who went to San Jose's Bellarmine College Prep. He was 44-22 in six years with the Toreros, where he took over for Jim Harbaugh when the 49ers coach left to take the job at Stanford.

Unusual hire. Losing record as a HC but admittedly making Utah State competitive is a monster task. But has spent his entire career basically in Mormon Country, no Midwest ties whatsoever. I guess he really impressed Alvarez in Utah State's game vs Wisconsin this year.

Looking at Utah State's roster they have a lot of players from California, Florida and Texas (especially California).

If Wisconsin wants a player in state, chances are they're pretty good about getting them since they grew up rooting for the Badgers and the Badgers are the only D-I or I-AA team in the state.

The Badgers do pretty well in Ohio and Michigan but they never get the top recruits from there anyways. If they can just keep supplementing the roster with diamonds in the rough from there (Chris Borland etc.) they'll do fine and if they can continue to get the guys from Florida and Texas and then add California to that, they should continue to build up the program.

This is a great hire for Wisconsin. Andersen is a perfect fit for the talent they can pull in. This couldn't have worked out any better for them.
