Anyone watching the Buffaloes this year knows that they were horrible

They got blown out nearly every game this year

Well deserved firing
The best players on the field this year were their freshmen. Freshmen he convinced to come play for him, and I think he deserved a shot to see what he could make of a team not filled with Division II talent.

That's what I think will happen.

Colorado is a weird, weird story. They won the Big 12 in 2001 and went to a BCS bowl but ever since it's just been downhill. I guess having Slick Rick Neuheisel and Gary Barnett gave them enough bad karma it could take decades to get back to neutral.

Slick Rick sucked, but Barnett was one of the best coaches in football. Remember, he took northwestern to the ****ing rose bowl.

The Dan Hawkins era set Colorado back so far that no one could have fixed that mess in 2 years.

Yep. They were absolutely talentless at virtually every position.

The university didn't show enough patience for a team that was in obvious rebuild mode.

Perhaps he should have gotten players from intramurals, brother.

Chizik won't have to work for a while with his buyout. His hiring in the first place made no sense at all and if it wasn't for Auburn paying for Newton to go there, he would have never came close to a National Title.

Colorado was last in the nation in both offense and defense. Sorry, not good enough. They were worse than the 08 cougars and huskies. He had to go.

Re: Auburn/Tommy Tuberville.... Tuberville had just come off 3 consecutive seasons of winning the SEC west to looking rather pathetic and going 7-5. Petrino, who had just left as Auburn's offensive coordinator, was having success in Louisville. There was lots of talk around here about Auburn firing Tuberville, but when word came out that Lowder had gone behind his back with then-Athetic Director David Housel and then-University President Bill Walker. Walker & Housel ended up getting fired, but Tuberville also had to ditch the worst Offensive coordinator we've ever had in Hugh Nall. If you'd seen exactly how bad that 2003 Auburn team was, looking for another coach wouldn't have been a shock.

Tuberville replaced nall with Al Borges, who enherited maybe the best offensive team Auburn's ever had in Jason campbell, Ronnie Brown, carnell Williams, Marcus McNeill, ben Obomanu and Devin Aromashadou.

Re: Chizik/Cam Newton..... Haters...

Re: Chizik hiring..... most Auburn fans wanted Turner Gill, Will Muschamp or Jimbo Fisher. Nobody ever mentioned Chizik. There was a big ol collective "WTF?" over this state.

Re: Current Auburn boosters..... yeah, Jimmy Raines is a big booster, but he's had the kibosh put on him by the current administration. Bobby Lowder's being investigated by the Securities & Exchange commission.... There's not really one dominant booster at Auburn right now. We all wish Pat Dye would be quiet though..... Most people believe Pat Dye was the biggest reason Auburn hired chizik to begin with.

As for replacing Chizik at Auburn.....Most rumors are based around Jimbo Fisher, Bobby Petrino, Charlie Strong and Mark Hudspeth. I'd like to see Strong or Hudspeth.

Jim Schwartz will get another year. That he brought the Lions out of the depths of hell will buy him some time.

They would be fools not to hire Petrino. He's a ****** and a terrible person, but he can coach and would get that team turned around fast.

I don't see the point in axing a guy after two years especially since the program still hasn't recovered from the scandals.

Well, as others have listed here, Colorado's offenses and defenses were so bad that he had to go.

Reddit claims he was a "nice guy"

"The team loved him, and he loved them"

If that's the case then make an effort to show up

Colorado didn't even show up for most of their games, and they want him to stay around? He is a nice guy. He is not a winner as a coach. He had to go.

The imaginary scandals from almost a decade ago? Totally irrelevant.

The fact he's a nice guy is pretty undisputed, but he was a terrible coach.

One of the problems with this whole thing is that he was extremely popular with the media and people around the program, and they have been coming out with the torches and pitchforks to back Embree and attack the administration.

the assault on the AD and the president on local TV and radio has been unreal to watch.

True, but, it's the baggage aspect. Mike Price got fired at Alabama for doing less than what Petrino did at Arkansas. People 'round these parts just won't put up with those kinds of shenanigans. Plus, there's the previous Athletic administration's baggage with Petrino. I really think it's best to go get someone else.
